2. The City of Gurugram wants to close down several fast food restaurants located along one of its major arterial
due to high number of accident occurrence. Authorities of those food chains have approached you, a road safety
expert, to look into the matter. When you visited the above-mentioned road stretch, it was observed that most of
these businesses are located along the arterial within 200 meter from the nearest intersections. At these
intersection locations, the subject arterial road is crossing different collector roads. A summary of the accident
data reveals that majority of the accidents are driveway related. These driveways are used by the customers to
enter and exit the businesses. What recommendations you would like to make to those companies? 10
3. During the development of a new township, it was perceived that the locality is to be resided by significant
number of older people (age ≥ 60 years). Make a list of 3 physical characteristics that could be affected by their
growing age while using the road. What are some specific strategies you would recommend for each of those
affected characteristics? Use a table to discuss about them. 10
4. The following junction has been observing a significant number of crashes every year. The concerned authority had
sent you the following drawing (Figure 4) before sharing any other details (especially crash data). In the meantime, you
thought of giving a closer look at the junction and play around with various ideas. 10
5. Delhi Government has been experiencing severe safety problems due to various helmet use related malpractices by
motorized two wheelers. In response to this issue, the Delhi High Court has allowed law enforcement agencies to set up
“checkpoints”. This would permit police officers to stop all 2W motorized vehicles/ a random sample at a given roadway
location, administer different checks and issue challan. Provide an outline of how to best administer such a program by
