Network Design Proposal for a High School

1. Executive Summary:
A high school requires a robust and scalable network infrastructure to support its educational and
administrative needs. The proposed network design includes a three-story layout with wired and wireless
connectivity, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security.

2. Scope of Work:
- Design and implement a network infrastructure for a three-story high school building.

- Provide wired and wireless connectivity for classrooms, offices, labs, and common areas.

- Ensure high-speed internet access for students and staff.

- Implement network security measures to protect against cyber threats.

- Provide scalability for future expansion and technology upgrades.

3. Network Layout:
- Each floor will have a distribution switch connecting to access switches on each floor.

- Access switches will connect to end-user devices, such as PCs, laptops, printers, and access points.

- A core switch will connect all distribution switches, providing inter-floor connectivity and access to the internet.

- Fiber optic cables will be used for inter-switch connections to ensure high-speed data transfer.

4. Wireless Network:
- Deploy wireless access points (APs) strategically on each floor to ensure full coverage.

- Implement a secure and high-performance wireless network using the latest standards (e.g., 802.11ac).

5. Security Measures:
- Implement a firewall to protect the network from unauthorized access and cyber threats.

- Use VLANs to segregate network traffic and enhance security.

- Deploy antivirus and anti-malware software to protect end-user devices.

6. Network Monitoring and Management:
- Implement network monitoring tools to monitor network performance and security.

- Provide training for school staff on basic network troubleshooting and management.

7. Timeline:
• Planning and Design: 2-4 weeks
• Procurement of Hardware: 2-4 weeks (may vary depending on availability)
• Installation and Configuration: 4-6 weeks
• Testing and Optimization: 1-2 weeks
• Total Estimated Timeline: 9-16 weeks

8. Budget:

infrastructure to support its educational and administrative needs. We are confident that our proposal meets
the requirements outlined and look forward to the opportunity to work with our esteemed teacher on this
project.

Three story Computer Networking Design for a

Highschool

1. Ground Floor (G/F):

- Main Networking Room: Located centrally on the ground floor to minimize cable lengths.

- Server Room: Houses servers for centralized services like file storage, email, and applications.

- LAN Switches: Distributed across the floor for connecting computers, printers, and other devices.

- Wireless Access Points (WAPs): Strategically placed for full coverage.

- Firewall: Protects the network from external threats.

- Internet Connection: High-speed connection for internet access.

2. First Floor (1/F):

- Classrooms: Each equipped with LAN ports and WAPs for wired and wireless connectivity.
