- 2.1.7.7 Use information gained from the illustrations and words in a print or digital text to
- Objective: Students will use an illustration to create their own understanding of a piece of
Domain Practice:
- Reading: The students do not do any reading in my lesson plan. If I were to add reading I
would have them read paragraphs about line, color, and shape to learn more about those
three elements of art. This would allow them to learn a little more about those three
elements of art.
- Writing: When the students are looking at the example of bubble art they will write down
what they see. This is not a lot of writing so if I wanted to add more I would have the
students answer questions about their bubble art and turn it in. The students also draw on
their bubble art what they see. They may or may not be writing, but it is using the
student's imagination. If I wanted to add more writing with words I would have the
students answer questions about their bubble art and why they did what they did and have
- Speaking: The students will speak ideas about what the educator's bubble art looks like.
They will also speak when the class is doing a group discussion about the three elements
of art. They will lastly speak about their art piece to the whole class.
- Listening: The students will listen to all the instructions that are being presented to them.
They will also listen to their classmates and educators when talking about the three
elements of art. Lastly, they will listen to their classmates while sharing about their
projects.
Group Configuration: In my lesson, I split the class into two groups. I decided to divide that
class into two so then there were not as many students around in the area trying to get to the
bubble solution. If I were to group the students I would group the ELL learners with students
whose first language is English. This not only allows both ELL learners and English speakers to
Content and Academic Language Vocabulary: The content vocabulary that is being taught is
three different elements of art. Those three elements being taught are color, line, and shape.
Language Skills that are apart of my lesson are critical thinking, communication, listening, and
reasoning
Critical Thinking: Students will need to think critically about what they see in their bubble art.
Communication: Students will need to communicate throughout the class about elements of art,
Listening: Students will need to listen to their classmates and educators when talking about
Reasoning: Students will need to reason what they saw in their art project.
Vocabulary and Academic Language Usage:
At the end of my lesson I have the students sit on a rug and share how they used one element in
their project. Here are some sentence frames they could use
Color:
Line:
Shape:
Critical Thinking: I will show this modeling at the beginning of my lesson by asking the students
what they see in my example of bubble art. I will then show them what I see and draw it.
Communication: I will show communication by communicating with class when talking about
Listening: I model listening when I listen to their ideas or their examples of color, line, or shape.
Reasoning: I will model reasoning by filling in a sentence frame, “I drew a _____ around my
