May I brag on our Deacons?

This past Monday evening was the regular monthly Deacons meeting and along with reviewing ministry items, the Deacons did something that made me very proud as their Pastor. Monday evening, the Deacons made over 20 ministry visits to nursing homes, retirement centers and individual homes. They did this as part of their commitment to the total ministry of the First Baptist Church. The example set by our Deacons should encourage all of us to be involved in the total ministry of the church. This means that each of us are doing what we are capable of doing, for the Lord through this church. It means that ministry is a hands-on experience for every believer. It means putting, giving, and going together and working for the Lord. Our giving has been slightly up for the month of October. This is due in part to our 10-10-10 emphasis which goes through the end of the month. Remember the first ten is the month. The next ten is the tithe and all are asked to tithe during month of October. The last ten is for those who are currently tithing and it is to ask that you give 10% of your tithe above what you now tithe. When we work together in giving and going then we are fulfilling the claim of being Christian. If we work together and give God the glory, great things will be done. I look forward to seeing you this Sunday. Paul Memory VerseOctober 23 John 14:1-2 Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me. In My Fathers house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
