BEP(BIM Project Execution Plan) Overview

To successfully implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) on a project, the project

team has developed this detailed BEP(BIM Project Execution Plan) (BEP). The
BEP(BIM Project Execution Plan) defines uses for BIM on the project, along with a
detailed design of the process for executing BIM throughout the project lifecycle.

By developing a BIM Execution Plan (BEP), the project and project team members can:
• clearly understand the strategic goals for implementing BIM on the project;
• understand their roles and responsibilities for model creation, maintenance and
• collaboration at different stages of the project;
• design a suitable process to participate in the implementation;
• define the content, level of detail and by when the model is to be delivered to
meet which objectives;
• benchmark the effectiveness of process with previous and future projects
• define contract language to ensure all project members fulfil their obligations
• provide a baseline plan to measure progress throughout the project

3.MODEL OVER VIEW

BIM model is divided by trades of work. (Architectural, Structural, and Mechanical-

Electrical-Plumbing)
Due to the big amounts of information to be inputted in BIM model, BIM model for each
trade of work is separated into small files with the maximum target file size at 100 MB.
Model separation plans are shown in the next pages.

SECTION G: PROCESS FOR BIM CREATION AND COLLABORATION

4. QUALITY CONTROL:
Validation
Sheets from the BIM shall be published to DWF (preferred), PDF or other non -editable format, where they can be
checked, approved, issued and archived as traditional documents.
Validation of the BIM data prior to sharing shall check that:
1) Model file has been audited, purged and compressed;
2) File format and naming conventions follow BIM execution plan,
3) Model files are up-to-date.
4) Model files are detached from central file,
5) Any linked reference files have been removed and any other associated data required to load the model file
is made available,
6) Model is correctly assembled through visual inspection,
7) Any changes since the last issue are communicated to the project team.
Data Security & Saving
1) Staff access to BIM project data held on the network servers shall be through controlled access permissions.
2) Maximum number of Revit back-ups shall be set to 3.
3) Revit LOCAL files shall be saved back to CENTRAL hourly.
4) Revit save reminder interval shall be set to 30mins. A 'Splash Page' is included in the associated templates .
These shall be retained and the file information completed. The note may be discarded or replaced with
project-specific information if required.
Reviewing BIM data
Untrained users shall not open Revit models directly. Instead, the model shall be exported as a 3D DWF and review
freely available Autodesk Design Review software shall be used for interrogation and mark -up.

Clash detection criteria
Each clash detection report shall be done between 2 trades of work. Lists below are the criteria for
clash detection.
Note: 3 mm. shall be used for tolerance of clash detection to avoid touch surface element clashing.
