[Scene: In the present, at Denji’s residence. Denji tries to sleep but can't.]

Denji Too hungry to sleep…

[Action: Denji goes into the forest with Pochita and cuts down a tree. The two take a break to eat some
bread.]

Denji (Flashback) Pochita, there’s a good chance I’m gonna die fighting a devil.

(Flashback) My only regret would be leaving you on your own.

(Flashback) You could end up starving to death, or some other devil hunter might kill you.

(Flashback) I’ve heard some devils can take over dead bodies.

(Flashback) If that’s something you can do… then I want you to have my body.

(Flashback) The yakuza won’t be on your case if you wait until I’ve been buried, right?

(Flashback) And then, you could move out of here… and then… Yeah.

[Action: Denji picks Pochita up.]

[Scene: In the present. Pochita fuses with Denji’s body and begins to reassemble it. Denji meets with
Pochita in his subconscious.]

[Action: The zombies begin walking toward Denji. Denji hops down from the dumpster.]

(Thoughts) Am I the same? I wasn’t satisfied with the happiness I had with Pochita… I
kept dreaming about a better life.

(Thoughts) I guess we all dream about stuff like that, huh?

(Thoughts) I can’t blame you, then.

(Thoughts) And I won’t, but… if you get in our way…

[Action: Denji pulls on the cord in his chest.]

Denji … you’ll die!

[Action: The zombies tackle Denji to the ground and begin eating his body.]

Zombie.D He’s bound to stay dead after being eaten.

[Action: A chainsaw revs up.]

Zombie.D Huh?

Ahh…

[Action: Denji explodes out of the pile of zombies. His head is now in the shape of the original Chainsaw
Devil’s, and his arms have chainsaw blades on them.]

Zombie.D What are you?! Did that devil runt take your body?!

That means you’re one of us!

[Action: Denji jumps out from the pile of zombies.]

Denji Urahh!

Zombie.D Ngh!

[Action: Denji attacks the Zombie Devil and cuts into its body.]

Denji Urah!

Zombie.D Ahhh!

Denji Urahh… Hehe… Haah…

[Action: Denji jumps back from the Zombie Devil and takes out its eye.]

Zombie.D Ahh! Ahhh!

[Action: The Zombie Devil attacks Denji, throwing him into a beam.]

Zombie Urahh…
[Action: A zombie swings a pole at Denji’s head.]

Denji Huh?

[Action: Denji slices through the zombies as they come to him.]

[Action: The Zombie Devil grabs some of the zombies and throws them at Denji.]

Zombie.D Don’t come near me!

[Action: Denji runs toward the Zombie Devil. Some zombies block his way, and he begins fighting them.]

Urah! Urahh!

Zombie.D Ngh… Grr… Die!!

[Action: The Zombie Devil attacks Denji again, but Denji cuts along the length of its tendril.]

Denji Urahhh!

Zombie.D Ahh!

[Action: Denji cuts into the Zombie Devil’s head.]

Zombie.D Ahhh!

[Action: Denji kills the Zombie Devil, but the rest of the zombies remain nearby.]

Well, you hired me to be a devil hunter, so I better kill all the devils, right?!

[Action: Denji begins fighting all the zombies.]

Denji Ngh! Hehe… Hehehe!

[Scene: In the morning. A black car arrives at the factory. Makima and two other devil hunters exit the car
to find the dead zombies inside.]

Makima Someone got here before us.

[Action: Makima looks up to see Denji standing at the other end of the factory, still in his hybrid form.]

Hunter 1 There’s still one alive.

[Action: Makima walks up to Denji.]

Makima Oh? You’ve got a strange smell. Not like a human or a devil.

I take it you did this?

Denji Ngh… H-Hug… me…

[Action: Denji begins to fall backward. Makima hugs him. The devil hybrid parts melt off his head and
body.]
Denji Ahh…

Makima He’s human.

Hunter 2 Any chance he’s possessed?

Makima No. I can tell who’s possessed with a look at their face.

I came here to kill the Zombie Devil. I’m a devil hunter with Public Safety.

[Action: Makima lays Denji down.]

Makima You have two options. I can kill you like a devil, or I can keep you as a human.

If I keep you, I’ll make sure you’re fed.
