5 Block Description

5.1 Computer Core

The C505CA microcontroller is a member of the Siemens C500 family of 8-bit microcon-
trollers. It provides 32Kbyte on chip OTP memory, 256 byte on chip RAM, 1Kbyte on chip
XRAM, a full CAN module and a 10-bit A/D converter with 8 multiplexed inputs.
The operating frequency is driven by a 16MHz crystal clock oscillator for the version
GAA26800KJ1 and an 8MHz crystal clock oscillator for the version GAA26800KJ2, resulting
an instruction cycle time of 375ns and 750ns respectively. The operating frequency can be
up to 20MHz.
This microcontroller performs all the control functions unless the RSL-interface.
The microprocessor supervisory circuitry MAX691 from MAXIM is used for the next func-
tions:
• Watchdog timer: the selected watchdog timeout periods are 1,6sec immediately after
reset and in normal mode. The reset timeout period is 50ms.
• Write protection of EEPROM: the MAX691 prevents the microcontroller from writing
erroneous data into the EEPROM during power-up, power-down, brownouts and mo-
mentary power interruptions.
• Reset output during power-up, power-down, brownout conditions.
• Power fail detector.
A REF02 precision voltage reference implements the ADC reference voltage. The REF02
provides excellent temperature stability, low drain current and low noise.
The version GAA26800KJ1 has a 64Kbyte external SRAM and a 64Kbyte external FLASH
memory. A Programmable Logic Device (PLD) GAL22V10 allows an "In-System Program-
mable FLASH Memory Function" via SVT interface or CAN-Bus.
Here are just a few benefits derived from a system with FLASH memory that is capable of
In-System Programming (ISP):
• Time to developed code is reduced.
• Code bugs can be corrected in the field.
• New products features can be added easily, even remotely.

5.2 Sensor Interfaces

The sensors interfaces are designed to work with load sensors, that have to fulfil the next
specifications:
• Power supply for the sensor: 24V±5%.
• Maximal supply current: 30mA (max).
• Load voltage: 0V…24V. (1.6V ≤ effective load voltage ≤ 16.5V)
• The ground signal is wired via connector.
• The connecting cable is a no shielded cable, checked with EMI tests for cable
length < 5m.
• The sensors 5-8 will not be assembled in the version GAA26800KJ2.
• Connectors soldered to the board: 4 pole, right angular AMP-0281-6964, GAA447EP3.

5.3 CAN Interface

The CAN interface is performed with the TJA1050 CAN Transceiver from Philips. The
C505CA microcontroller hat on chip a full CAN controller. For these operating frequencies,
the CAN controller can provide 1Mbaud/sec CAN baudrate.
The LWB_II communicates via CAN-bus with another components of the system and pro-
vides analog load information. In-System Programming can be performed via CAN-bus.
Connector soldered to the board: 2 pole, WAGO-721-162, GAA447FC1.

5.4 SVT Interface

The Service Tool (SVT) Interface is a RS422 data interface.
The SVT interface will not be assembled in the version GAA26800KJ2.
Connector soldered to the board: 9 pole female SUB-D connector, GAA447CL4.

5.5 RSL Interface

The PIC16C55 microcontroller from Microchip performs the RSL interface control. An 8MHz
resonator, resulting in an instruction cycle time of 500ns drives the operating frequency.
The PIC16C55 is interconnected to the C505CA microcontroller using a parallel port.
The RSL address selection is done using the switch SW1. The board has to be pro-
grammed with the address ‘9’ for the GeN2 Release1 elevator systems.

The LWB_II communicates via RSL with another components of the system and provides
analog load information.
The RSL-power supplies the LWB_II.
The RSL-interface will be not assembled in the version GAA26800KJ1.
Connector soldered to the board: 4 pole, CON4_P396-BASE, GO614BC4.
