The main objective of my project is to come up with a way to cub this problem and help promote
safety on our roads and protect both the victim and the offender and replace the current manual
system.
According to my project proposal, we are talking about combating speeding and drunk driving
with RF and alcohol detection technology. This is to address the shortcomings of the existing
system by utilizing cutting edge technology to reduce road accidents caused by over speeding
and drunk driving. The system consists of an RF module, an MQ3 alcohol sensor, and a
microcontroller to measure the vehicle’s speed and the driver’s blood alcohol content. The data
collected is then processed, and if the driver is found to be under the influence of alcohol, the
system prevents ignition, and if the vehicle is found to be over-speeding, the speed is
automatically controlled to comply with the posted speed limit.

CHAPTER ONE
1.1 INTRODUCTION
In our lives today, a lot of people find joy in going out and drinking alcohol as a form of
entertainment. In most scenarios, we have people going with their own vehicles and will of
course not leave them. They drive while drunk and cause accidents where people may get bad
injuries and in unfortunate events, they lose their lives.
The aim of the system I am creating is one that controls speeding and drunk driving so as
to reduce accidents. This system is mostly used with electric vehicles and motorcycles.
LIMITATIONS
It will also help the owner of the vehicle or motorcycle be considerate of his/her life and of
others too
CHAPTER TWO
2.1 INTRODUCTION
We have to propose ways to cub this situation of drunk riders and drivers. According to my
research, the proposed system suggests integrating a mechanism between the motorcycle and the
rider’s helmet. The primary objective of this system is to encourage helmet usage and prevent
accidents. The design proposes a synchronization module that connects the motorcycle and the
helmet. If the rider is not wearing a helmet, the motorcycle won’t start. The helmet’s modules
and the motorcycle synchronize when the rider is wearing the helmet, allowing the motorcycle
to function. Furthermore, an MQ-3 alcohol sensor is positioned near the rider’s mouth to detect
the presence of alcohol in their breath. If the sensor identifies any alcohol concentration, the
motorcycle will not start. The helmet inspection and alcohol sensor test must be successfully
completed before the motorcycle can be started. In the unfortunate event of an accident, the
intelligent helmet promptly responds by utilizing a GSM module and a GPS module. It sends a
distress message through GSM technology, including the exact GPS-based location. This
immediate alert ensures that emergency services can be quickly dispatched to the rider’s
location, increasing the chances of receiving timely assistance. [1] [2] [3]
In the instance of a driver, according to [4] the system is derived from the idea of VANETs
(Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks) and IoTs (Internet of Things). The aim is to mitigate road accidents
caused by drink-driving and over-speeding on roads. Furthermore, it is also aimed at ensuring
that traffic officers’ lives are not exposed to health hazards as currently experienced. The system
is expected to operate in real-time manner to detect both drink-driving and over-speeding. In
particular, the IoT is employed via embedded sensors sensing data of driver’s breath and over-
speed inside the drivers’ vehicle and communicate the information using VANETs technologies
to traffic officers in real-time. To actualize this, an application is developed that allows traffic
officers on duty to view drink-driving and over-speeding offenders in real-time as displayed on
the traffic map. With the real-time data, traffic officers can go after the corresponding drivers as
an early measure to prevent disasters on the road. In addition, they system employs an
administrator who will be responsible for managing the tasks. Requirements for the proposed
system were actually elicited using observation where we witnessed series of accidents on the
roads which has resulted to serious injuries and deaths as well as the operations of the traffic
personnel. According to my research this system is somehow outdated.
According the document written by [5] The aim of this project is to provide the solution to limit
the speed of over speeding vehicles automatically using RF transmitter and receiver once they
enter an accident-prone area such as schools, hospitals, highways etc. Once the speed of the
vehicle comes down within permissible limits, driver will not be able to exceed the speed limit
even if he accelerates the car to its full potential. The project will help to reduce the percentage
of road accidents caused by over speeding. This in turn ensures the safety and security of
human lives on road. As the accidents due to overspending are increasing day by day, this
project could be a ground breaking road safety model if implemented well. This project aims to
completely “nullify” the rash driving habits of people.
