DETAILED LESSON PLAN IS ENGLISH 6

I. OBJECTIVES
Through varied activities, 75% of the grade 6 students should be able to;
a. identify coordinating conjunctions and its usage;
b. compose sentences using appropriate coordinating conjunctions;
c. appreciate the value of connections in communicating.

B. REVIEW
Before we start our lesson this
morning let us have a recap first .
I have here sentences . Raise your
hand if you know the answer.

grass.
4. The temperature in Baguio is below
zero.
5. Malia wandered into the forest trying to
escape the vampires.

C. ACTIVITY
Direction: The teacher will play a song entitled
“ FANBOYS SONGS”. And the students will sing
it all along.
D. ANALYSIS
1.How did you feel? What was the video all
about?
2. What is the meaning of FANBOYS?
3. In what category of Conjunctions FANBOYS
belong to?
E. ABSTRACTION
COORDINATING CONJUNCTION – joins
or links to connect words, phrases
sentences and clauses.
There are seven coordinating
conjunctions just remember the
acronym:
“FANBOYS”
F- OR
A-ND
N-OR
B-UT
O-R
Y-ET
S-O
FOR- It explains the reason or a
purpose.
EX. Let’s not fight about the past, for
today is a new day.
Hero studies everyday for his grades
are very low last grading period.
AND – adding word or ideas.
Ex. You should invite Vince and Jemuel
to the party.
Sandy beaches and glistering seas.
NOR- used to express negative
choices meaning the person doesn’t
like both presented.
Ex. I don’t like burger nor spaghetti for
snacks. (It means he doesn’t like both
choices).
Matt didn’t do his chores, nor did he
finish his homework.
BUT- shows contrast between two
words, phrases, or ideas of equal
importance.
Ex. We would love to attend the
birthday party, but we have a meeting
that day.
Facebook is a wonderful escape, but it
interfere with my studies.
OR- is use to express choices.
Ex. What do you like hot cake or
banana cake?
I cant decide if I should study English
or Filipino?
YET- is used to add information in the
sentence. It also used to present
contrast or exeptional.
Ex. The sun is warm, yet the air is cool.
Ezikiel plays basketball well yet his
favorite sport is badminton.
SO- it introduces the effect in a cause
effect relationship between two ideas.
Ex. She arrived early at the market, so
she got the freshest foods.
Wear your raincoat so you don’t get
wet.
F. APPLICATION
Instructions: ‘PICK ME UP’
The teacher will post a number from
1-35 in the board. Each student should
pick one number and that number has
a corresponding question which
he/she they need to answer, if failed
to do so will be punished.
MECHANICS OF THE GAME:
 Once you pick a number you need to
answer in just 30 minutes if failed to
do so he/she will be punished.
 Answer honestly and correctly.
IV. ASSESSMENT
Directions: A. Identify what
coordinating conjunctions will be used
to make the sentence complete.
