AUDIO SCRIPT: LISTEN AND ANSWER

Sandra: Hi there. How are you doing?

Juliet. Fine! I was anxious here waiting for your call. Are you enjoying Los Angeles?
How about your family? Are you all fine?

Sandra: Yeah, we are OK. The city is big and exciting but we are living in the
suburbs, far from downtown My neighborhood has good infrastructure. It's one of
the best in the city, but..

Juliet: But.?

Sandra: Well, we moved in last month, and I’m still homesick. I miss my
hometown, grandparents friends, school. I miss everything.

Juliet: You will soon feel better. It takes time, my friend.

Sandra: I don't know. Everything is unfamiliar to me and guess what? My parents

want to move out of this house. They think it's not big enough for us and the dogs.
They are now thinking about moving away to an isolated village in the countryside
next year. I can't imagine myself living in the middle of nowhere. Oh my goodness!

Juliet: What about your brothers? What do they think about it?

Sandra: Philip likes the idea, but Mark is stressed over this situation, like me.

Juliet: Don't panic! It's only an idea. Maybe it will never happen. Your parents will
probably become familiar with the place you are now and they'll learn to love it.

Sandra: I hope so.

Juliet: Oh! I have good news!

Sandra: Really? Tell me now because I need to hear some good news!

Juliet: I think I will visit you in L.A. in July.

Sandra: Are you serious? Oh, it will be amazing! Do you know how long you will
stay here?

Juliet: Maybe for a month. I will need to return home at the beginning of August.
I'm pumped about it! It will be the time of our lives.

Sandra: Oh. Juliet, I miss you so much.

AUDIO SCRIPT LET’S GET AROUND

Adam: Hey. Leah! Good to see you're online!

Leah: Hi, Adam! Good seeing you here, too!

Adam: Do you want to play a new game together?

Leah: Sure! How does it work?

Adam: We need to find tips and solve enigmas to advance stages.

Leah: Cool! I'm in!

Adam: Great! So, the first thing is to choose our avatars before starting a new
match.

Leah: How exciting! And who are they?

Adam: Little Wiz. Liz. Bobby, Akio, Alice, Joe, Sue and Clara.

Leah: Hmm. I'll choose Liz.

Adam: And I'll go with Little Wiz

Leah: So here we go! The match today is "Starting a New Journey," and the goal is
to find the tip so we can go to the next stage.

Adam: OK. Well, this is a very isolated place.

Leah: Everything is so unfamiliar.

Adam: Yes. Let's keep on Moving. Will we need to find a village or something?

Leah: Maybe. But it seems we are in the middle of nowhere

Adam: Look, there's a button over there. Can you reach it?

Leah: Yes. I think it's the tip button! Let me press it.

Adam: It's our first tip! It says: "Another word for beach." Leah: Hum.. Is it... coast,
maybe?

Adam: Look! You did it. Liz! We completed the first mission. I love your geography
knowledge.
Leah: This is the advantage of those mandatory geography lessons.
Adam: I'm really proud of you.

Leah: Thank you!

Student: She just moved to a new city and her parents are talking about moving
out again to the middle of nowhere.

Student: Los Angeles, in the suburbs.

Possíveis respostas de um aluno real para o exercício Convince Me:

I think that the suburbs are calmer than the big cities. In my opinion people are
nicer because they have time to talk and not only send messages.
