DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 1

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the 30 minutes lesson, the students should be able to:
a. identify the words that describe a person, place and a thing;
b. use describing words in a sentence; and
c. show appreciation of God’s love by giving a situation.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Using Adjectives to Describe Person, Place and a Thing
References: English Quarter 4 DLL, K-12 Curriculum Guide
Materials: Visual aids, pictures, mystery box, paper and marker
Values focus: Cooperation and Attentiveness

These words are call adjectives.

Again, what do we call these words?


 We call these words adjectives.
That’s right. And this is our lesson for today.

C. Discussion
So class, I have here the definition of adjectives.
Everybody read this.  Adjectives – are words that describe a
person, place and a thing. It could be
number, color, shape, size, distance,
how it taste, how it feels, how it
behaves, how it looks and how it
sounds.
Thank you. Now class, will you give me an
example of a number? Joenalyn.  An example of number is seven.

Good. Will you use seven in a sentence,


Kent?  I am seven years old.

Very good. How about a color? Yes Ian.


 An example of color is blue.
Correct. Will you use blue in a sentence,
KC.  My bag is color blue.

Nice. Now, will you give me an example of


shape? Jessa.  An example of shape is rectangle.

Correct. Will you use rectangle in a sentence,


yes Joever?  The board is rectangle.
How about size? Will you give an example,  An example of size is big.
Samuel?

Good. Will you try to use big in a sentence?  The elephant is big.

Very good.

D. Group Activity
We’re going to have an exciting activity. I will (The pupils will listen very carefully)
first group you into three and we are going to
have a fun activity.

Group 1: “BOX ME”


Direction: Box the describing words used in
each sentence.
1. My house is big.
2. I have a cute dog.
3. The beach is clean.

Group 2: “PICTURE PERFECT”
Direction: Select 3 words that best describe the
picture.

 Beautiful, dirty, wide, dark, clean

Group 3: “MATCHY MATCH”


Direction: Match column A (pictures) to
column B (words that describe) by drawing a
line.
