minutes and would either have a quick worksheet to review what we had learned or something as

Students are having FUN and becoming better with their math facts at the same time. If you'd like to

(along with all of your others!). I called it STAR Homework and put my own spin to it. Honestly, I
just want them reading.and enjoying it! Those things seem to ZAP the enjoyment right out of
reading. Frankly, I don't care if they're writing them five times each, cheering them to a parent, or

Effortlessly Pair Fiction and Nonfiction Texts. I get sick of keeping track of it, trying to instil
responsibility into them to do it, and have appropriate consequences when they don't. I would love to
do this in addition to Homework-opoly as an extra incentive. Generally, we have 40-70 stars a day
(five possible per student). This usually gives me pretty good results (plus I have really cooperative
parents.sorry to those of you that struggle in this area). It wouldn't be fair if some kids just skated
along never doing their homework.
At the end of the week, we add up our class (or team) stars and students are rewarded for the
number of stars earned. I've received a lot of great feedback from parents about this approach. Read

homework hotspot last year so that it was easier for me to see who wasn't turning it in. Then you
have the students that play sports and their excuse is that they didn't have time. Then when it
happens time after time, the students think it is ok. They are required to get it signed and return it to
school the next day. Love that this rewards those who are doing what they should and encourage

help to both parents and students. What a good way to motivate students to be responsible. Still, we
are the ones who are left to deal with it.:) This year, we are going to try doing a Fun Friday activity
for those who have no late work out.still working on just what the criteria will be to qualify, but we
are thinking of having guests in to share their talents and hobbies, board game choice days, scrabble
or chess tournaments, free choice day, movie day, cooking day, outdoors games or free time days,
etc. Inside the folder: -a clear sleeve with your child’s playing cards and a ring with our first math
card game (a new game will be added every couple of weeks) -the weekly poem -the great poetry
race recording sheet -the spelling list for the week (we always do list A) -a spelling menu with
suggested ways to practice spelling words All of these things should stay in the folder when not
being used. I'm so famous for finding something I can't keep up with in regards to HW rewards. This

math worksheets. Some Students Don't Have The Home Support So I Think This Would Be A Great
Way To Motivate And Recognize Their Responsibility In Completing Homework.I Always Love
Your Ideas. Students love it because it gives them choices.and they get to work together toward a
goal. I would love to have a positive reinforcement to bring in homework. Each student is assigned
to a team of 3-4 students.
That way, homework can adjust to families' schedules: a birthday party on Tuesday? Jr. The rewards
are teacher discretion: extra outside recess, gum, Smart Board game- something fun. As a class, we
will add the stars together to get our class TEAM total to see if students have earned a reward. To

will turn in their completed yellow star sheet. That way, students can complete it whenever their

helps you to do your accounting homework and accounting assignments. These games are typed on
cards and placed in the pouch as a reference for parents. I searched your store for the math card
games but didn't come across them. It wouldn't be fair if some kids just skated along never doing
their homework. As a second grade teacher, I was afraid that parents would revolt, but many were
happy to help their child and were more aware what we were doing in our classroom. If this is the

with me, too!:) Last year, I took a BIG LEAP in my math homework. I am curious, do you give all
the homework on Monday for them to complete throughout the week, or is it given out every day.

campus that we must give homework, I try to limit it to basic practice that can be completed without
help from an adult, spelling practice, math facts, nightly reading. We color in a graph with columns in
sets of ten with different colors for each day. I'm linking up with The Applicious Teacher to share
my Homework Club. However, I find this method extremely beneficial during the first few weeks of
school. I will most definitely be thinking about team homework next year.
I think it would be a great motivator for my students. It is hard when homework is not a priority at

responsible. I have parents that don't want homework and parents that want a lot of homework. We
share lunchroom duty and are free every third week so I could easily work this reward into my
schedule. I do provide a list of possible activities (it stays in their MONSTER folders) for those who
may need new ideas, but whatever works best for them is okay with me. They've been all the rage
the past few years, right. I would love to have a positive reinforcement to bring in homework.

required activities they are not eligible for the reward. There are the kids that always do their work,
too, and I feel like they don't get rewarded. I searched your store for the math card games but didn't
come across them. I plan on making some of those and blogging a bit about it once I have it all set
up. If this is the case, then the expectation is that they need to be working on the assignment during
team time. They felt that playing a math game wasn't helping their child become better with the math
