LESSON PLAN

INTEGRATION OF DRUG EDUCATION IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND HEALTH


GRADE 12

I-Learning Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:.

 distinguish their roles as advocates for change in their family, peer group, community, and society.
 understand the importance of advocating for change in promoting health and well-being
 demonstrate their understanding of advocacy through role-playing and hands-on activities.

II. Subject Matter: Advocating for Change in Family, Peers, Community, and Society

 Whiteboard and markers


 Handouts with scenarios for role-playing activity
 Laptop and TV for multimedia presentation

III.Procedure

A.Preliminary Activities : ( Prayer, checking of Attendance, Checking of Assignment,)

B. Lesson Proper

1.ACTIVITY:

The teacher Begin the lesson by asking students to brainstorm different ways they can advocate
for change within their families, peer groups, communities, and society. Write their responses on the
whiteboard.

2. ANALYSIS

 The teacher , Begin the lesson by asking students to define advocacy and discuss why
advocating for health-related issues is important.
 The teacher let the students give their own idea
A. Would you rather organize a community clean-up event to improve the environmental health of
your surroundings,?
B. b. Would you rather speak up against a family member's harmful beliefs or stay silent to
avoid conflict?
C. Would you rather confront a friend for making discriminatory remarks or overlook their
behavior to maintain the friendship?

3.ABSTRUCTION :

The teacher explain and elaborate further about the following

1.The importance of advocating for change in different areas of our lives.

Advocacy is of utmost importance to protect the rights of people who may otherwise be
dismissed or ignored. Advocates are often the only independent support that people receive in
some of the most challenging moments in their life – so we must continue to promote advocacy
services all over the country.

2.advocating for change can help improve the health and well-being of individuals and
communities.

For individuals, having a health advocate ensures better patient care and utilization of the system.
On a systemic level, health advocacy pushes the changes necessary to ensure that healthcare
processes are effective and help the people who need them.

3.concept of advocacy and its role in creating positive change. Advocacy is essential for
creating positive change in the workplace and beyond. By applying psychological
principles, theories, and concepts, one can develop strategies to challenge and change
erroneous beliefs and advocate for social change.

 Divide students into small groups and provide each group with a scenario related to advocating for
change in one of the four areas (family, peer group, community, society).
 Students will role-play the scenario and come up with strategies to effectively advocate for change.
 After the role-plays, facilitate a discussion on the importance of advocacy in promoting health and well-
being.

IV Evaluation : Assessment:
 Assess students based on their participation in the role-playing scenarios, creativity
and effectiveness of their advocacy campaign
 Assess student understanding through participation in activities, group
presentations, and reflections on their advocacy efforts.
 Evaluate student communication and leadership skills demonstrated throughout the
lesson.
 Provide feedback on students' ability to identify areas for change and effectively
advocate for those changes.
IV. Assignment :
1. Design a peer advocacy campaign focused on a specific health issue (e.g. mental
health awareness, substance abuse prevention). Students can create posters, social
media posts, or organize a peer support group.
