WHAT IS RELIABILITY DEMONSTRATION TEST?

Reliability Demonstration testing (RDT) is an efficient way to test whether the product will
attain a specified reliability for a given life. This life is typically the products required
useful life, its MTBF, or even warranty length.

The RDT process involves subjecting the product or system to a set of test conditions
that simulate the expected use environment and stress levels. The product or system is
tested until it reaches a predetermined level of reliability, or until a pre-determined
number of failures occur. The purpose of RDT is to provide objective evidence that the
product or system will meet its reliability requirements, which can be important in
situations where failure can result in significant harm, damage or loss of revenue.

WHAT IS CALIBRATION TEST?

A calibration test is a process of checking and adjusting measuring instruments or sensors

to ensure that they are accurately and consistently measuring a given quantity. The goal
of a calibration test is to establish a correlation between the measurement device's
output and the actual value of the measured quantity. It verifies the readings of a
measurement instrument to ensure they fall within predetermined specifications. This
improves the accuracy of a measurement device and ensures consistent measurements
in testing applications.

Custom calibration test systems measure the accuracy and traceability of measuring
devices and equipment. Conducting these tests is extremely important because the
accuracy of measurement devices and equipment begins to decline over time. These
changes in accuracy happen naturally with normal use but may also be caused by
exposure to extreme operating environments or damage from shock, vibration, or
impact.

Test calibration systems can perform resistance, pressure, and vacuum tests for efficient
and effective liquid flow calibration or air flow calibration (per your specifications). Our
calibration test equipment collects, stores, and downloads complete and accurate data
for SPC analysis to document the part to a test.
WHAT IS RELIABILITY ACCEPTANCE TEST?

Reliability Acceptance Testing (RAT) is a process used to evaluate the reliability of a

product or system prior to its acceptance by the customer or end-user. The aim of RAT is
to demonstrate that the product or system meets the specified reliability requirements
and is suitable for its intended use. The process involves subjecting the product or system
to a set of test conditions that simulate the expected use environment and stress levels.
The product or system is tested until it reaches a predetermined level of reliability, or
until a pre-determined number of failures occur.
It is a functional trial performed on a product or prototype before it is put on the market
or delivered, to decide whether the specifications or contract have been met. It also
makes sure the quality and design of the product meet both contractual and regulatory
obligations in terms of functionality, usability, durability, and safety. When a product is
found to be unacceptable at this stage, it can be sent back for modification, debugging,
repair, or re-design before it can become a costly undertaking for the producer, as
would be the case in a product recall.

WHAT IS PROTOTYPING?

Prototyping is an experimental process where design teams implement ideas into

tangible forms from paper to digital. Teams build prototypes of varying degrees of fidelity
to capture design concepts and test on users. With prototypes, you can refine and
validate your designs so your brand can release the right products.

The process of prototyping typically involves creating a simplified version of the product
or system, which may be made using physical materials or digital tools. The prototype
may be a simple sketch, wireframe, or a working model, depending on the complexity of
the project.
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN QUALITY AND RELIABILITY
Quality and reliability are closely related. Quality refers to the degree of excellence of a
product or service, while reliability is the probability of a product or service to perform
consistently and as expected over a given period of time. An expected over a given
period of time. A high level of quality is essential to achieve a high level of reliability,
since quality factors such as design, materials, and manufacturing processes all
influence the reliability of a product or service.
Additionally, reliable products or services are generally perceived as being of higher
quality, since they consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. Therefore,
testing and inspection are important tools to help ensure that a product or service meets
the required level of quality and reliability.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TESTING AND INSPECTION

Testing and inspection are two related but distinct quality assurance activities that are
often used in conjunction with each other.
Inspection is the process of checking equipment for compliance with your specifications
and requirements, i.e. reviewing and analyzing a product or system to identify any
defects, errors, or deviations from the required specifications. Inspections may involve
reviewing design documents, code, or other artifacts to identify potential problems that
may arise during the testing or implementation phases.
Testing, on the other hand is often synonymous with lab testing in the quality control
industry. This is because product quality testing is typically performed at a certified third-
party laboratory, not at your supplier’s facility. It involves running a software application,
system, or product through a series of predefined tests to verify that it meets the
required specifications and works as intended. Testing can be automated or manual, and
it typically involves executing a set of test cases to assess the functionality, performance,
and security of the product.
REASONS FOR PRODUCING PROTOTYPES OF EQUIPMENTS
Analyze the materials used
There is a lot to consider in the design phase of a product. One of the most integral parts
is deciding what materials actually to use. While weighing the pros and cons of different
manufacturing materials on paper is possible, evaluating a prototype is far more
straightforward.

Evaluate manufacturing options

When it comes to manufacturing, you have many options to choose from; there are the
country of origin, trade barriers, and manufacturing technologies for you to think about.
While you may have one particular idea about the manufacturing process, making a
prototype only helps clarify which of the long list of options is suitable.
Provide quality assurance
Not all products are created equal. You know if you've ever ordered something cheap
online only to have it break after a few uses. Likely, the manufacturer didn't test that
product, or it didn't go through any rigorous quality assurance.

Figure out the cost of production

When planning your pitch to your partners or investors, how do you get the data you
need to understand your constraints, such as time and cost? A prototype can help your
engineers determine the material required for production. It lets your accountants
accurately quantify the true cost-per-unit for its eventual production.

Modify your equipment

One of the best benefits of prototyping is that it's iterative. You can make adjustments to
your roadmap along the way. For instance, once you do a prototype, you may realize
some great benefits from even a simple change to your tooling or equipment.

Make a more durable product.

The durability of your product relies on much more than just the materials and
manufacturing process. Depending on the project, the prototype you commission might
simply be the intermediate item in a finished product.
