1 Objective
Specify an instruction procedure how to calibrate autoclaves of T-EDGE models.

2 Description
To calibrate Tuttnauer autoclaves of T-EDGE models, you have to perform the procedure as
described in section 3 below.

3 Calibration Procedure

3.1 Main steps


Follow the following procedure to calibrate Tuttnauer autoclaves of T-EDGE models.

The main steps are:

• Calibrating the autoclave Temperature sensors :


o Chamber Temperature (range 60-130OC)
o Jacket Temperature (range 60-130OC)
o Pipe Heater Temperature (range 100-180OC)

• Calibrating the autoclave Pressure sensor :


o Chamber Pressure (range 25-300 kPa)

1. Connect Temperature simulator instead of the Jacket Temperature connector.

7. The autoclave then requests to set the Temperature simulator value on 130OC degrees

9. On the ‘Auto calibrate analog input’ screen, The autoclave reads value of 132.2OC degrees,
press calibrate button (to set this value to 130OC):

10. Enter to ‘Calibrate analog input’ to check the range.

The autoclave reads 129.8OC degrees on the Jacket Temperature, which is very near to 130.0 OC,
difference of 0.2OC is OK.

11. Check again the Jacket Temperature on the 60.0OC range.

Set the Temperature simulator to 60. 0OC again.

Enter to the ‘Calibrate analog input’. The autoclave reads 60.0OC degrees on the Jacket
Temperature, which is exactly the value set on the simulator. This means that Jacket Temperature
is calibrated.

3.4.2 Pipe Heater Temperature calibration

1. Connect the Temperature simulator instead of the Pipe Heater Temperature connector.

The Pipe Heater Temperature is the upper connector on the board, as seen in the photo above.

2. Go to screen Settings>Input/Output>Analog inputs calibration’> Pipe Heater


Temperature’>Auto calibrate Analog Input’

3. The Pipe Heater Temperature range is different, it is 100-180OC degrees.

4. On the ‘Auto calibrate analog input’ the autoclave requests to set the simulator on 100OC.

6. The autoclave on the ‘Auto calibrate analog input’ reads 140.7OC on the Pipe Heater
temperature.
Press on the calibrate button.

7. The autoclave on the ‘Auto calibrate analog input’ requests to set the Temperature
simulator on 180.0OC.

8. Set the Temperature simulator connected on the Pipe Heater temperature socket on 180OC.

9. The autoclave reads 237.7 OC degrees from the Pipe Heater Temperature sensor (while the
Temperature simulator connected on the Pipe Heater temperature socket is set to 180.0OC
degrees). Press calibrate.

10. Enter to ‘Calibrate analog input’ to check the range.

The autoclave in the ‘Calibrate analog input’ reads 179.8OC degrees on the Pipe Heater
Temperature, which is very near to 180.0OC, difference of 0.1OC is OK.

11. Check again the Pipe Heater Temperature on the 100.0OC range.

Set the Temperature simulator to 100. 0OC again.

12. Enter to the ‘Calibrate analog input’ to check the Pipe Heater Temperature read value. The
autoclave reads 99.8OC degrees on the Pipe Heater Temperature, which is 0.2OC degrees
near the value set on the simulator.
This means that Pipe Heater Temperature is calibrated.
13. Disconnect the Temperature simulator from the board and reconnect instead the autoclave
Temperature sensor.

3.4.3 Chamber Temperature calibration


1. Connect Temperature simulator instead of the Chamber Temperature connector. It is the
connector on the bottom, see photo below.

2. Go to screen Settings>Input/Output>Analog inputs calibration’> Chamber


Temperature’>Auto calibrate Analog Input’

3. Repeat all correspondent steps as detailed on the Jacket Temperature. The calibration
procedure is similar.

3.5 Pressure calibration

3.5.1 Chamber Pressure calibration


1. For calibrating the pressure, we need a Pressure simulator tool, see below:

2. Disconnect the autoclave pressure sensor connector and connect the pressure simulator
connector instead.

3. Turn on the pressure simulator by a long press on the red powerup button.

5. We calibrate from 5 mA which equals to 25 kPa to 16 mA which equals to 300 kPa.

kPa

8. Enter to >’Auto calibrate analog input’

The pressure simulator is tuned to 5 mA (25 kPa), enter to ‘Auto calibrate analog input’ and check
the pressure value that the autoclave reads on the chamber pressure (in this case it reads 24.6 kPa).

9. Press Calibrate.

10. Now autoclave requests to set simulator pressure on 300.0 kPa.

11. We set the pressure simulator to 16 mA which equals to 300 kPa.

13. Press on Calibrate

15. For checking again, the 25 kPa range, we set again the pressure simulator to 5 Ma.

17. The autoclave is calibrated now.

18. Disconnect pressure simulator and reconnect the autoclave pressure sensor.
