STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE

 BEFORE (prototype, trial and error)

- Prototype to see the dimensions for 2 compartments and secret compartment
- Pattern making for the chipboard, leather, lining and interfacing on lining. make sure to
double check pattern.
-
 DURING (cut and sewn piece of material)
 Chipboard –handle middle, front and back, lid sides. Front pocket, sides and platform, upper
and lower straps (no allowance)
 Leather part have specific part. Handle same as prototype, Front ½ inch allowance. Back ½
inch allowance. 2 sides ½ inch allowance. Platform ½ inch allowance. Lid ¼ inch allowance.
Front pocket ½ inch allowance, front pocket sides and platform ½ inch allowance. Bag strap
inch width having a length of, back accessories
- Punching holes with diamond chisel and rubber mallet at the center of each measurement.
 Lining same measurements as chipboard.
Detailed procedure

1. PROTOTYPES
- Taking the measurement of the bags contents which are laptop with laptop case, computer
mouse, laptop charger with case, notebooks, pencils or pens, wallet and cable bags. Draft
onto pattern paper in terms of height, width and volume.
- On paper for the chipboard prototype calculate volume of each part of leather bag so for
instance, the first compartment for notebooks, pens and pencils adds the height and width
for the front and back, as for the sides and platform use height, width and volume. This is
the same for second compartment for the laptop with laptop case, computer mouse, laptop
charger with case. For the secret compartment this is where the wallet and cable bags same
procedure. Take note of any adjustment needed.
- For the front pocket this is depended on the intended height, width and volume you want.
- Create the lid the cover the 3 compartments and the front pocket the back must have the
right height amount to cover it.
- For the closure mechanism it composes of 2 parts upper strap and lower strap. The upper
strap must extend a little past the lid and reaches over a little bit on front pocket.
- For back strap use a yarn to see what is the length needed.
2. PATTERN

The pattern needed are:

- Chipboard Block pattern and leather having ¼ inch allowance for sides
- Chipboard back have area for zipper then cut it out carefully
- Lining allowance of ½ front, back secret compartment, inner pockets and front pocket
- Interfacing block pattern for first and second compartment 2 pc each, secret compartment 1
pc
- Chipboard pattern for upper strap and lower strap, back part lower accessories
- Also include area for long bag strap and extra strap for securing bag strap

- For the sides of the leather this is for the bag strap and trace extra strap for lower part of bag
strap

and mark with ballpen all through the piece then place the diamond chisel align with rubber mallet then
with enough force pound onto the chisel to puncture the leather.

Bag accessories

- Lower Back square mark center and punctured with diamond chisel for ring strap,
mark inward then punches with diamond chisel
- Front under strap and lower strap mark the center for magnetic snap which is ¾ inch
and ¾ inch from the top round area same for the front upper strap.
- Mark the end center of the back strap then places rivets

ASSEMBLING with trimmings
