    Standard 7: Building Professional Capacity

    Candidates who successfully complete a building-level educational leadership preparation


    program understand and demonstrate the capacity to promote the current and future success
    and well-being of each student and adult by applying the knowledge, skills, and commitments
    necessary to build the school’s professional capacity, engage staff in the development of a
    collaborative professional culture, and improve systems of staff supervision, evaluation, support,
    and professional learning.

    Component 7.1 Program completers understand and have the capacity to collaboratively
    develop the school’s professional capacity through engagement in recruiting, selecting, and
    hiring staff.

    Component 7.2 Program completers understand and have the capacity to develop and engage
    staff in a collaborative professional culture designed to promote school improvement, teacher
    retention, and the success and well-being of each student and adult in the school.

    Component 7.3 Program completers understand and have the capacity to personally engage
    in, as well as collaboratively engage school staff in, professional learning designed to promote
    reflection, cultural responsiveness, distributed leadership, digital literacy, school improvement,
    and student success.

    Component 7.4 Program completers understand and have the capacity to evaluate, develop,
    and implement systems of supervision, support, and evaluation designed to promote school

    7.1, 7.2, 7.3. 7.4 New Teacher I developed a New EA8820


    Induction Plan Teacher Induction series
    that spanned the first 4
    years of a new teacher's
    career. This plan included
    monthly meetings with
    different topics and a
    rationale for each topic
    chosen.
    7.2, 7.3 Individual I developed an IDP that EA8820
    Development Plan could be used for a new
    (IDP) teacher specifically in
    regards to classroom
    environment.

    7.1, 7.2, 7.3. 7.4 Webster Case This paper allowed me to EA8820
    be an “acting” HR Director
    who planned out an
    effective communication
    plan for a new principal,
    the staff, and community
    members.

    7.1, 7.2, 7.3. 7.4 New Teacher I helped plan and facilitate Lakeview Public
    Meetings & these meetings for the Schools
    Leadership Team 2023-2024 new staff
    cohort for Lakeview Public
    Schools. These meetings
    are held monthly and
    cover a range of topics
    specific to Lakeview
    Public Schools and new
    teachers.

    7.1 Interview Questions I wrote out a series of EA8820


    interview questions that
    could be used to interview
    for a classroom teacher at
    the elementary level. They
    could also be modified for
    the secondary level.

    7.2 Wellness Plan I developed a wellness EA8820


    plan for myself as an
    educator in an effort to
    reflect on my practice and
    be mindful of how to
    handle the stressors of
    being an educator.
