Simple Present Tense
Simple Present Tense tells us about events that take place in a long time duration.It is generally used
to talk about habits,re-occuring actions and commonly known unchangeable facts.
Sentence Structure
When we are forming a sentence with i,you,we,they subjects,the verb is used with their simple
forms.
For Example:
I run every weekend.(Her haftasonu koşarım.)
You play basketball every sunday.(Sen her pazar basketbol oynarsın.)
We play video games every day.(Biz hergün video oyunu oynarız.)
They talk too much.(Çok konuşurlar.)
When we form sentences with he,she or it,we add –s,-es or -ies,depending on the verb.
If the verb ends with ss,sh,ch,zz,x or o,it takes –es.
For example:
Pass-passes
Buzz-Buzzes
Go-Goes
Crash-Crashes
Fix-Fixes
If the verb ends with consonant –Y,it takes –ies.
For example:
Cry-Cries
Study-Studies
Dry-Dries
Others take –s.
For Example:
Play-Plays
Run-Runs
Call-Calls
Example Sentences:
She talks too much.( O çok konuşur.)
He walks to school everyday.(O hergün okula yürür.)
You bring your computer everyday.(Sen hergün bilgisayarını getirirsin.)
I watch horror movies every Saturday.(Her cumartesi korku filmi izlerim.)
They go to Amusement Park every weekend.(Her haftasonu Lunaparka giderler.)
In sentences that refer to an state,whe use -are and -is depending on the subject.
In he,she and it,we use –is.
In you,we and they,we use -are.
In i,we use –am.
Examples:
I am a good swimmer.(Ben iyi bir yüzücüyüm.)
You are the best friend ever.(Sen gelmiş geçmiş en iyi arkadaşsın.)
He is a liar.(O bir yalancı.)
She is a patient person.(O sabırlı birisi.)
We are a good team.(Biz iyi bir takımız.)
You are such hospitable neighbours.(Siz çok misafirperver komşularsınız.)

Negative Sentence
In negative sentences,we bring not after to be.
I am not a very forgiving person.(Ben çok affedici bir insan değilim.)
He is not a very reliable man.(O çok güvenilir bir adam değil.)
She is not a very friendly person.(O çok arkadaş canlısı birisi değil.)
We use don’t in i,we,you and they,and doesn’t in he,she,it.
I don’t watch television.(Ben televizyon izlemem.)
He doesn’t sleep late.(O geç vakitte yatmaz.)
We don’t like missing our meal.(Biz yemeğimizi kaçırmaktan hoşlanmayız.)
Question Sentence
Don’t + I,you,we,they + Work?
Make?
Doesn’t + he,she,it + Study?
If you want to make an emphasis on the meaning,you can use the additional do before the verb.
I always do get up early.(Ben her sabah erken kalkarım.)
She always does walk to home after school.(O hep okuldan sonra eve yürür.)

You can use Frequency adverbs with SPT.
Always:Herzaman
Usually:Çoğunlukla
Generally/normally:Genellikle
Often/frequently:Sıklıkla
Sometimes:Bazen
Occasionally:Arada bir
Seldom/rarely:Nadiren
Never:Asla
I always have breakfast before school.(Okuldan önce hep kahvaltı ederim.)
He rarely smiles.(O nadiren gülümser.)
She sometimes feels down.(O bazen morali bozuk hisseder.)
She usually watches action films.(O çoğunlukla aksiyon filmi izler.)
Every day,every month,every week,every morning can be used with SPT,both in the start or the end
of the sentence.
I work on Sundays.(Pazarları çalışırım.)
Once a week,twice a month,three times are also used at the end and tell frequency.
I brush my teeth twice a day.(Dişimi günde iki kez fırçalarım.)

How often do you go to cinema?(Ne sıklıkla sinemaya gidersin?)

If you boil water,it eveporates.(Suyu kaynatırsan,buharlaşır.)
The gravity keeps us on Earth.(Yerçekimi bizi dünya üzerinde tutar.)
3)Talking about a schedule or timetable of a certain event.
The plane takes of at 6.00 p.m.(Uçak akşam saat 6’da kalkacak.)
The program starts at 8.00 o clock.(Program saat 8’de başlıyor.)
