Customers will call asking for programming instructions

for their “autostart”. This does not mean they have an

Autostart system. The remote start button icon will help
determine the brand of system they have.

OR
Many times customers will want to reprogram remotes
because the vehicle does not remote start. Programming
remotes may not solve their issue. Here are a few
questions you may ask:

∙ Does the LED on the remote turn on when pressing a button?

∙ Does the lock button activate the locks on the vehicle?
∙ Does the vehicle react in any way to any command pressed on the
remote(lights ,horn, etc…)?
Entering programming mode using the Hood Pin
∙ Press and hold the hood pin down for 4 seconds.
∙ Release the hood pin.
The parking lights will turn ON for 1 second.
∙ While the parking lights are ON, press the hood pin once more
and release immediately.
The parking lights will come ON solid for 20 seconds.
∙ Before the lights go out, turn the ignition key ON, then OFF.
∙ Press and hold the lock button and keep it down until the parking
lights flash 5 times quickly.
∙ The transmitter has been stored in memory. Each unit can store 4
remotes in its memory.
Entering programming mode using the A.P.B.
(Antenna Programming Button)
∙ Make sure the hood is closed
∙ Turn the Ignition key to the run position
∙ Within 5 seconds, press the programming button on the antenna
twice (1 second each time).
The led will come ON solid for 20 seconds.
∙ Before the lights go out, cycle the ignition key OFF, ON, OFF.
∙ Press and hold the button and keep it down until the parking
lights flash 5 times quickly.
∙ The transmitter has been stored in memory. Each unit can store 4

Hood pin:
Usually located under the hood on the driver
side. Mounted either to a metal bracket or
drilled into a metal piece of the vehicle. This
switch is spring loaded. Rust typically
interferes with correct operation of the
switch. Twisting the switch
clockwise/counterclockwise while gently
pulling up on the switch usually “cleans” the
contact point enough for operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
∙ Up to 4 transmitters can be programmed to a unit at any given
time.
∙ Any additional transmitters programmed will “bump” the oldest
transmitter out of programming.

∙ Incorrect installation of a remote starter can result in the remote

starter not entering programming of remotes.
∙ If components of a system needed for programming remotes are
missing(ie. hood pin, or programming button) please refer the
consumer back to his installation facility.
∙ Always ensure that the batteries in the remotes are good by
looking at the LED(light) on the remote when a button is pressed.
The LED MUST react when pressing a button.
∙ On Autostart systems, the LED on the antenna will blink the same
pattern as the parking lights during programming.
∙ To exit VALET mode on an Autostart system, cycle the key ON-
OFF 5 times within 10 seconds.
∙ On V/P/X systems, when the main module has been programmed
with a Bitwriter, remote programming can be “locked". This
requires a Bitwriter to “unlock” programming in order to
program a new remote.
∙ On V/P/X systems, if previously armed, the system must be
disarmed before a remote can be programmed. Turn the ignition
to the ON position, then press and release the programming
button on the antenna ONE time. The LED will turn off indicating
the system has been disarmed (Ex. A customer locks his doors
and looses his keys in a shopping center.)
