1.0 Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
The Baliti Catholic Cemetery is a place of historical significance for the neighborhood.
Generations of families rest within its sacred walls, each with its own special history and heritage.
But as time moves on, new problems have emerged that call for a modern solution: the creation
of a web-based cemetery mapping and information system.
In relation to the statement above, Finegan, et al. (2020) emphasize the importance of
cemetery mapping, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic where many people lost their lives
in fighting this virus. They mentioned in their article that it is a humanitarian mission to protect
the body and dignity of these deceased individuals.
The Baliti Catholic Cemetery has no records of the year it was first established. But
according to the church that manages it, the Virgen Delos Remedios Parish Church, it is older
than the said church. The church was established in 1943, and the cemetery was donated to them
by the people who previously owned it. Four people owned the cemetery previously, and those
four generous people are willing to donate their land titles to the church and let the Virgen Delos
Remedios Parish manage it. According to Father Among (2023), the church manages the
cemetery by renting tombstones for five-year periods. Families and friends of the departed can
choose to maintain the tombstone's lease for the memorial. However, if a tombstone's rental
remains unpaid for five years, a practical solution is set in motion. The remains of the individual
on the tombstone are respectfully moved to a designated area known as the Boneyard. This
practice allows for the continuous use of the limited cemetery space, honoring the memory of
those who rest there while accommodating new burials. Recognizing the complexity and
confusion caused by a lack of a systematic approach. The researchers in the group are dedicated
to creating a system for the cemetery.
This study intends to develop a user-friendly website that makes it simple for individuals
to locate the graves of their loved ones. Additionally, it offers cemetery staff members an
effective means to access, maintain, and update the data. Users can view the cemetery map, look
for graves, and discover details about the departed. Finding and recording information is
streamlined by the system, saving time and effort. Users can immediately locate the whereabouts
of the deceased on the screen by merely typing their name. For both users and staff, it is
important to make the experience as convenient as possible.
The main goal of this research is to create, develop, and put into use a Cemetery Mapping
and Information System website specifically adapted to the requirements of the Campo Santo de
Bacolor Cemetery Furthermore, this system aims to improve cemetery management, usability,
and experience.
2. To establish a consolidated, database system that will make it easy for the staff to access,
maintain, and update burial records and related data.
3. To enable visitors to the Cemetery Mapping and Information System website to view the
location of the Baliti Catholic Cemetery through an interactive map or GPS coordinates,
providing ease of navigation and guidance to those unfamiliar with the area.
8. To develop and integrate an extension module into the existing Cemetery Mapping and
Information system to streamline the calculation and management of land tax.
engagement.
10. To provide comprehensive training and support resources for administrators and users,
In this research, our main focus is the development and implementation of a Web-based
Cemetery Mapping and Information System designed specifically to meet the unique needs of the
Baliti Catholic Cemetery.
This involves the creation of a user-friendly website that will include digital maps with
real images of tombstones, as well as the establishment of a consolidated database system to
efficiently store and manage burial records. Visitors will have the ability to search for graves
using specific criteria such as the last name of the deceased, burial date, location within the
cemetery, or other relevant identifiers., while administrators will be provided with secure login
access, sub-account creation options, user-friendly interface, and data visualization through the
use of tables. Additionally, an admin module will be integrated to facilitate administrative tasks
such as user management, content moderation, and system configuration. The system will also
feature functionality for generating various reports, allowing administrators to analyze cemetery
data and make informed decisions. Timestamp headers will be implemented to ensure the
accuracy and traceability of data modifications and system activities.
However, it's essential to acknowledge specific limitations that could impact the extent
and effectiveness of this study. Resource limitations, encompassing financial, technological, and
human resources, may exert an influence on the project's progression. Technical challenges,
including internet connectivity and the quality of hardware and software, might have
repercussions for the user experience. The precision of the data relies on the information provided
by the cemetery and its personnel, which could contain errors or gaps. While safeguarding data
privacy and security is a primary concern, there may be inherent constraints in achieving this.
Ultimately, the success of the system is intricately linked with user adoption, and it may take
some time for users to become fully acclimated to its features. Nevertheless, our commitment
remains steadfast in addressing pivotal issues in cemetery management and enhancing the visitor
experience at the Baliti Catholic Cemetery. The researchers aspire to produce findings that can
offer valuable insights for future projects with similar objectives.

The Palo Catholic Churchyard Locator, Reservation, and Manager is a potent data
manager that enables users to track all information about gravesites, owners, occupants, and more
via a one-screen user interface, improving the conventional method of managing services. It is
possible to create a web-based application for a cemetery, and this is a system that could assist in
processing their transactions. Next, it was created to make the system as simple to understand as
possible and to save time while finding graves on a map. (Velarde et al., 2019).
indicating that their livelihoods are mostly influenced by livelihood plausibility as well as
geographical and generational displacement. According to the study, these families are socially
well, contributing to society and increasing understanding of unusual lifestyles in cemeteries.
(Bautista and Codo, 2019).
Increased population, urbanization, and the people are concerned about environmental
degradation. living in both developed and developing countries. As poverty persists in the
country, it is not surprising that cemeteries—particularly public ones—now serve as homes not
only for the dead but also for the living. In this century, Filipino attitudes toward the dead have
ranged from morbid fascination to forbidden subjects. Filipinos respect the dead who come to
visit them. Solemnity is required in the cemetery. Residents of cemeteries would work as epitaph
makers or lapida in the Philippines. Some would sell flowers in cans and candles. In exchange,
children frequently clean mausoleums and tombs for a few coins (Lapatha, 2019).
