Background of the Study

In the realm of educational research, qualitative inquiry serves as a powerful tool for

delving into the lived experiences and perceptions of individuals within specific contexts.

This qualitative study aims to uncover the intricate factors influencing reading

Drawing on principles of phenomenology and grounded theory, this study seeks to

uncover the subjective experiences and meanings attributed to reading comprehension within

the context of Grade 11 education. By engaging participants in reflective dialogue, we aim to

unearth underlying beliefs, attitudes, and perceptions that shape students’ engagement with

reading and comprehension. Furthermore, this research acknowledges the interconnectedness

of socio-cultural factors, educational practices, and individual learner characteristics in

shaping reading comprehension outcomes. Through thematic analysis and constant

comparative methods, we aspire to identify emergent themes and patterns that shed light on

the complex interplay of these factors. Ultimately, this qualitative inquiry seeks to transcend

the limitations of quantitative assessments, offering rich insights that inform holistic

understandings of reading comprehension proficiency. By amplifying the voices of

stakeholders and embracing the diversity of experiences within Immaculate Conception
