Preliminary Stuff:

• GC PACS 1.5 Setup CD – Workgroup (including GC PACS 1.5 setup, Service Pack, Tools,
etc.)
• GC PACS 1.5 Image CD – Server (including system platform disk image files.)
• Windows 2000 Server (English Version) Setup CD
• Windows 2000 Service Pack 4(English Version)
• Dell OptiPlex Resource CD (OpenManage Server Assistant)
• Dell OptiPlex Resource CD (OpenManage System Management)
• Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition (English/Simple Chinese/Traditional Chinese

Hardware platform:
Standard hardware platform is listed as below:
• DELL PowerEdge 2650 Server
a) PIV 2.4GHz CPU *2
b) Memory: 1GB
c) Hard disks: 36GB * 2
d) 1000Base-T NIC * 2
• DELL PowerVault 220S
a) Hard disks: 73GB * 5

Preliminary Steps:

• Disks Configuration
1. Power on the DELL PowerVault 220S first, then boot the DELL PowerEdge 2650
server.
2. Press Ctrl-A when the system prompts to run Container Configuration Utility.
3. Click Initialize Drivers on Main Menu.
4. In dialog box, press INS to select two hard disks for initialization. Then press ENTER.
5. System will ask for confirmation, type Y. Just ignore the warning.
6. On Main Menu click Create Container.
7. In dialog box, press INS to select two hard disks to build container. Then press
ENTER.
8. In Container Properties dialog box, set options as follows, and Click DONE to continue.
a) Container Type: RAID 1(Mirror)
b) Container Label: CONTAINER
c) Container Size: 33.898GB
d) Chunk Size: 64KB

e) Read Caching (Yes/No): Y
f) Write Caching: Enable when protected
g) Create RAID5 via: N/A
9. Press any key to continue.
10. Press ESC to return to Main Menu.
11. Reboot the system.
12. The system will execute hard disk scrubbing operation in the background. It will take
about 2 hours if no other system operation runs.
(Note: at the same time, sytem installation operation may be performed sequentially,
but it will impact on the disk scrubbing operation.)

• Array Configuration:
1. Boot the system and press Ctrl-H to run WebBIOS.
2. Click Start in Adapter Selection dialog box.
3. In PERC Configuration dialog box, select Configuration Wizard option.
4. On Configuration Wizard screen, select New Configuration option and click Next.
5. On Select Configuration screen, select Custom Configuration option and click Next.
6. On Array Definition screen, append all drivers to the array, click Next to continue.
7. On Logical Drive Definition screen, set the options as follows:
a) RAID Level: RAID 5
b) Stripe Size: 64KB (Default)
c) Read Policy: Adaptive (Default)
d) Write Policy: Write-Back
e) Cache Policy: Direct I/O
f) Span: Disable
g) Select Size: 277159 GB
8. On Configuration Preview screen, click Accept to save the configuration.
9. Quit WebBIOS Utility and the system will reboot.

Installation Steps:
If the hardware configuration is the standard Dell PowerEdge 2650, restore system from image
file following the steps described in step 0, otherwise install/reinstall system following step 1 and
step 2.

0. Restore system from image file with PQDI.

0.1. Insert GC PACS 1.5 Image CD - Server into CDROM drive, boot from CDROM, select
item1. Start computer with CD-ROM support.
0.2. Insert diskette with PQDI utility.
0.3. Change work directory to relevant drive path and find the PQDI.
0.4. Run “PQDI.exe”.
0.5. Select Restore Image.
0.6. Select image file of boot partitions from Image CD, which is located in
“\IMAGES\DISKBOOT.PQI”.

0.7. Click Next, the partition information inside the image file will display, click Select All,
partitions UTILITY and System will be checked.
0.8. Click Next, select the Disk 1 as the destination drive.
0.9. Click Next, and click Delete Disk Partitions.
0.10. Select Disk 1 and click Delete All, click Yes when warning dialog pops up, all partitions
on Disk 1 will be deleted.
0.11. Click Close to return.
0.12. If the destination disk is same as the source disk or large than the source disk, user
should select option “Leave remaining unused space” when PQDI asks how to deal
with unused space.
If Disk1 size is less than the source disk size in image file, click Resize Source
Partitions to resize partition to proper size, click OK and Accept.
(Note: Resize partition1 - C:(System) if there is a need to resize.)
0.13. Click Finish to start restore, when pop up message as ‘the partition may not be bootable,
Are you sure you want to do this? ’, Select Yes.
0.14. Click Yes to view restore result, then click Close.
0.15. Click Exit to exit PQDI utility. Then eject CD and reboot, and then go to step 3.

1. Install Windows 2000 Server (English Version)

If Windows 2000 Pro is already installed on the server and the partition type of drive C and D
are NTFS, skip step 1 and go to step 2.

1.1 Insert DELL OpenManage Server Assistant CD (bootable) into CDROM and boot
PE2650 server from CDROM.
(Note: Server Assistant might not boot on a system with a Windows 2000 dynamic disk
drive.)
1.2 On the left startup screen, click Server Setup item.
1.3 Set date and time, select the time zone: GMT+08:00 Beijing, Chongqing, Hongkong and
Urumqi, then click Continue.
1.4 Configure RAID, select PERC 3/Di Controller as Boot Controller, select RAID 1, then
click Continue, then system will automatic reboot.
1.5 Select Operating System: Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, then click Continue.
1.6 Configure hard disk, select NTFS as NT file system, and input Boot Partition Size:
29500, and then click Continue.
1.7 Enter OS Information:
1.7.1 User Name: Administrator.
1.7.2 Organization: XXX
1.7.3 Computer Name: XXX.
(Note: computer name cannot be ‘PARISGC’)
1.7.4 Product ID: type the license code of the Win 2000 Server
1.7.5 Client License (CAL): Per Server Mode; 5 license
(Note: the CAL number should follow the actual purchased license number.)
1.7.6 Join Workgroup: Workgroup
1.7.7 Deselect “SNMP” service
1.7.8 Leave the rest option as they are, and then click OK

1.8 On Installation Summary, check the options you just select and set, and then click
continue if no error, or click Reset if you abort your selection and reconfigure.
1.9 DELL OpenManage Server Assistant – Windows Installation Wizard dialog popup, to
follow the wizard, click Next.
1.10 On Install Operating System, copy the files needed, include DELL device drives.
1.11 After file copy, click Next, and the wizard will prompt user to insert new CD. Then,
eject the DELL OpenManage Server Assistant CD, and Insert the Windows 2000
Server Setup CD following the screen guidance.
1.12 After finish the file copying, eject the CD and click Finish, system will reboot auto.
1.13 Log on with administrator account to the system and insert the DELL OpenManage
System Management CD following the system prompt. After install DELL System
Management software, restart the system.
1.14 Install “File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Server” to enable FTP service.
1.14.1 Enter “Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Add/Remove Windows
Components”. In “Windows Components Wizard” dialog, deselect other items,
and select “Internet Information Services (IIS)”, click “Detail…”.
1.14.2 In “Internet Information Services (IIS)” dialog, select “Common Files”, “File
Transfer Protocol (FTP) Server” and “Internet Information Services Snap-
In”, and deselect other items, then click OK.
1.14.3 In “Internet Information Services (IIS)” dialog, click Next, and following the
prompt, insert Windows 2000 Professional CD, and browse to “\I386” directory.
1.14.4 After installation, click Finish to end FTP service installation.
1.15 Set “Telnet” service as “Automatic” startup (default is “Manual” startup) from
“Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Services”.

2. Install Windows 2000 Server (English Version) Service Pack 4

2.1. Insert Win2000 SP4 CD into CD-ROM.


2.2. Run W2KSP4_EN.exe from CD-ROM in Explore window.
2.3. In Win2000 SP4 Setup Wizards dialog box, and then click Next.
2.4. In License Agreement dialog box, select I Agree, and then click Next.
2.5. In Select Options dialog box, select “Do Not Archive Files” option, and then click
Next.
2.6. Now updating your System, click Finish in Setup Wizards dialog box.

3. Windows 2000 Server Optimization

3.1. Change locale and language settings


3.1.1. From Start->Settings->Control Panel, double click Regional Options.
3.1.2. In General Tab, select your locale (location):
Chinese (PRC) for Simplified Chinese version
Chinese (Taiwan) for Traditional Chinese version
Other locale for the specific version…
3.1.3. Select Language Settings for the system according to your selected locale:
(Note: change language settings may require Windows 2000 Server CD.)
Simplified Chinese for simplified Chinese version

Traditional Chinese for traditional Chinese version
Other language for the specific version
3.1.4. If Chinese Input Method is wanted, please switch to Input Locales tab and add the
specific Input Method. (Please refer to the windows 2000 online help for more
information)
3.1.5. Click OK to quit.

3.2. Disk management


3.2.1. Log on with administrator account to the system.
3.2.2. From Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools, click Computer
Management dialog box.
3.2.3. Click Disk Management. When DELL OpenManage Array Manager dialog popup,
just close it.
3.2.4. Select Disk View Tab to configure hard disk and array.
3.2.5. Modify the current disk drive letters.
C: System
X: CDROM
3.2.6. Click Create Volume on the unallocated partitions, the result is shown below:
(Note: the disk size may be allocated proportionally according to the actual size of
the hard disk. Please refer to the disk map doc for details.)
HD-0:
System(C:) Local Disk NTFS 31.00GB
Swap (D:) Local Disk NTFS 3.00GB
Service (E:) Local Disk FAT 2.00GB
HD-1:
Data (F:) Local Disk NTFS 70.00GB
Archive (G:) Local Disk NTFS 200.00GB

3.2.7. Close the Computer management window.

3.3. Change swap file properties


3.3.1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
3.3.2. Double-click System.
3.3.3. In the System dialog box, select the Advance tab.
3.3.4. Click Performance options, and click change.
3.3.5. In the Virtual Memory dialog, Click the D: volume label, then in the initial value
text box, type 1536,in the max value text box, type 3072,click Set.
3.3.6. Click the C: volume label, in the both initial value text box, and the max value text
box, type 0.click Set. Ignore the System warning.
3.3.7. Click OK, quit Virtual Memory dialog, Click OK, quit System dialog box.
3.3.8. OS will popup window to advise you restarting system, click OK to reboot directly.

3.4. Manage user account.


(Note: this step may be ignored if the system is installed according to Step 0.)

3.4.1. Create a user account to perform service operation. The user name is “ekservice”,
password is “ekhi2002”, and add it into “administrators” group and set its
“Password never expires”.
3.4.2. Change the password of user “administrator” to “pdchi20021224”.

3.5. Configure FTP service.


(Note: this step may be ignored if the system is installed according to Step 0.)
3.5.1. Enter “Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Internet Services Manager”.
3.5.2. Double click the node of Host Name, then the node “Default FTP Site” will be
expanded, then right click this node and select “Properties” from menu.
3.5.3. Click “Security Accounts” Tab, change the “UserName” to “ekservice” and
“Password” to “ekhi2002”.
3.5.4. Deselect “Allow Anonymous Connections” to disable anonymous login.
3.5.5. Select “Home Directory” Tab, change “Local Path” to “C:\PARISGC\Service”
directory.
(Note: if this directory does not exist, please create this directory firstly.)
3.5.6. In “Home Directory” Tab, select “Read”, “Write” and “Log visits”.
3.5.7. Click “OK”.
3.5.8. Right click the “Default FTP site” and select “New->Virtual Directory”, follown
the wizard to create a virtual directory named as “FillerOrderFolder”, and select
the path as “G:\FillerOrderFolder\” directory, and select “Read”, “Write”
permissions, then finish the wizard.
(Note: if this directory does not exist, please create this directory firstly.)
3.5.9. Then close “Internet Services Manager” dialog.

4. Install MS SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition

4.1. Log on with administrator account to the system.


4.2. Insert the SQL Server 2000 Setup CD in the CDROM, if the compact disc does not auto
run, double-click Autorun.exe in the root directory of the compact disc.
(Note: please use the proper SQL Server language version).
4.3. Click SQL Server 2000 Components..
4.4. Click Install Database Server and setup prepares the SQL Server Installation Wizard.
In the Welcome window, click Next.
4.5. In the Computer Name dialog box, Local Computer is the default option and the
local computer name appears in the edit box. Click Next.
4.6. In the Installation Selection dialog box, click Create a new instance of SQL Server,
or install Client Tools, and then click Next.
4.7. Follow directions on the User Information dialog, click Next.
4.8. On Software License Agreement dialog box, click Yes.
4.9. In the Installation Definition dialog box, click Server and Client Tools, and then
click Next.
4.10. In the Instance Name dialog box, if the Default check box is available, and click Next.
4.11. In the Setup Type dialog box, click Typical, and then click Next.

4.12. In the Service Accounts dialog box, accept the default settings-Use the same account
for each service; Auto start SQL Server Service. And in Service Settings, select Use
the Local System Account, click Next
4.13. In the Authentication Mode dialog box, select Mixed Mode (Windows
Authentication and SQL Server Authentication, and add password for sa login as
“sa20021224”, and click Next.
4.14. When you finished specifying options, click Next in the Start Copying Files dialog
box.
4.15. In the Choose Licensing Mode dialog box, select Per Client license mode, and input 5
CAL, which may be changed according to the actual license agreement, and click
Continue to begin the installation.
4.16. In the Setup Complete dialog box, click Yes, I want to restart my computer now,
and then click Finish.
4.17. Reboot the system.

5. Install SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3

5.1. Insert the Microsoft SQL Service Pack CD into the CDROM.
(Note: please use the proper language version according to the SQL Server language
version)
5.2. Double click the Setup.exe
5.3. In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.
5.4. In the Software License Agreement dialog box, read the license agreement and click
Yes.
5.5. Click Next in the Instance Name dialog box.
5.6. In the Connect to Server dialog box, check The SQL Server system administrator
login information, input sa password: sa20021224.
5.7. In the SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3 Setup dialog box, check Upgrade Microsoft
Search and apply SQL Server 2000 SP3 (required), click Continue.
5.8. In the Error Reporting dialog box, leave it as is, and then click OK.
5.9. Click Next in the Start Copying Files dialog box.
5.10. When Microsoft Data Access Component 2.7 Setup, if SNMP.exe task is running.
System will prompt you to shutdown it, just ignore.
5.11. System will prompt you to backup the master and msdb database, click OK.
5.12. In the Setup Complete dialog, click Finish.
5.13. Reboot the system.

6. Optional Installation

The GC PACS system supports some optional hardware, including high-resolution monitors,
paper printers, and label printers.
If any optional hardware is to be used, please install the driver using relevant installation
package before system software installation.

7. Install GC PACS V1.5 Application Programs

7.1. Check if any old version of GC PACS 1.5 is running. If yes, please stop the system
using service tools (C:\PARISGC\Service\LcService.exe) firstly, and then uninstall
the old version from Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs.
7.2. After uninstallation procedure completes, please check if the directories (C:\Program
Files\PARISGC\PACS and C:\PARISGC\Service) still exist, and if yes, please delete
these two directories manually.
7.3. Reboot the machine.
7.4. Check right-bottom of the taskbar, make sure SQL Server is running. If not, start it
from service manager (click Control Panel-> Administrative Tools->Services to
launch the Service Manager and start MSSQLSERVER from it)
7.5. Insert GC PACS 1.5 Setup CD into CD-ROM.
7.6. Install GC PACS 1.5 application from “\PACKAGE\” directory in GC PACS 1.5
Setup CD. For different language version of GC PACS, please run “WGGC-SRV.exe”
under the relevant subdirectory.
For Simplified Chinese version, enter “\SC” subdirectory
For Traditional Chinese version, enter “\TC” subdirectory
For English version, enter “\EN” subdirectory
7.7. On Setup Wizards Welcome dialog box, click Next.
7.8. On License Agreement dialog box, select I Agree, and then click Next.
7.9. For main server installation, select “Main Server Installation”, and for installation on
extension server, select “Ext Server Installation”, and then click Next.
7.10. On following Summary dialog box, click Install to begin installation.
7.11. Now updating your System, and click Finish on Setup Wizards dialog box to end
program installation.
7.12. After installation succeeds, please restart the machine. When system restarts, it will use
“parisadmin” account to login Windows automatically, and the GC PACS 1.5
application will startup auto.
Please use service password to exit to desktop to perform following operation.

8. Install Acrobat Reader 4.0

If the system is built up using GC PACS Image CD according to Step 0, the Acrobat Reader
4.0 is also installed as well. So skip step 6 and go to next step.

8.1. Insert GC PACS (V1.5) Setup CD into CD-ROM.


8.2. Navigate to sub folder “\TOOLS” and Run “ar40.exe”.
8.3. On License Agreement dialog box, select I Agree, and then click Next.
8.4. On Destination Select dialog box, accept the default destination path “C:\Program
Files\Acrobat40”, and then click Next.
8.5. Click Finish to end the setup.

9. Add License

9.1. Run “cmd” to display command window.


9.2. Run “cd c:\PARISGC\service”.
9.3. Run “lcservice”.

9.4. Select 9.License Tools ->1.Display License Status to check license status.
9.5. If license is not added, select 2.Add License to add license.
(Note: please refer to the service manual for details.)
9.6. If backup/restore license is wanted select 3.Backup License /4.Restore License (Note:
please refer to the service manual for details.)
9.7. After add license, close the command window.

10. Network Setting

10.1. Set “Host Name” of server from “Control Panel” of Windows.


10.2. Set “IP Address” of server from “Control Panel” of Windows.
(Note: don’t use DHCP network setting.)
10.3. Add an Incoming Connection for remote access via the preparative Modem by using
Windows “Network Connection Wizard” from “Control Panel”. Assign “ekservice”
as the login user of remote access and use static IP pool for RAS. Set IP pool started
from 169.254.0.1 to 169.254.0.4.
10.4. If Extension Server is installed, another private network link should be set up between
Main Server and Extension Server.
Set “IP Address” of another network card on Main Server and Extension Server
respectively, then update related configuration settings in “C:\Program
Files\PARISGC\PACS\config\LCPConfig.dat” file on Main Server as well Extension
Server, the default settings as below:
[IP]
MainServerPrivate = 144.0.0.1
ExtServerPrivate = 144.0.0.2

11. Configure System

11.1. Run service configuration application from service directory in local system
(“C:\PARISGC\Service\service_cfg.exe”) or from any service machine if the service
configuration application is installed on it and it has been connected with current
system.
11.2. Input Server IP address, login the server using default user name: “ekservice”, and
using password: “ekhi2002”, and setup the following sections.
(Note: please refer to the “GC PACS Service Manual” for more details.)
• Modality Register (Mandatory)
• Printer Register (Mandatory)
• Other WGGC Register or 3rd Party PACS Register (Optional)
• DICOM Setting, including AE Title and Port No of all kinds of DICOM Services of
current GC PACS system, such as SSCP, PSCU, SSCU, QRSCP, QRSCU.
(Optional)
• System Setting, including System Info registration, PreCD settings, and Server
IP Configuration (Mandatory)
• Archive Setting, including archive mode, archive watermark of different data
storage (Optional)
11.3. Run client configuration application on each workstation, at least the server information.

Please make sure there must be one and only one Operatin Workstain is specified.
(Note: please refer to the “GC PACS Service Manual” for details.)
11.4. Map the CD buffer directory, default is “D:\PRECD\”, and shared CDROM driver,
default is “X”, of Operation Workstation to GC PACS Server as “H:\”and “Z:\” driver
respetively.
(Note: please refer to “GC PACS Disk Map” for details.)
11.5. For Extension Server, some additional configuration must be performed before system
running:
11.5.1. Add a System DSN named as “WGGC” in “Control Panel->Administrative
Tools->Data Sources (ODBC)”, which is connected with the SQL Server on
Main Server. You may input the private IP Address to specify the Main Server.
11.5.2. Update below configuration settings in “C:\Program
Files\PARISGC\PACS\config\LCPConfig.dat” as private IP Address of Main
Server.
[DATABASE]
DBHostName = 144.0.0.1
11.5.3. In “Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services”, change the “Log On” of
“Kodak Acq Server” and “Kodak PDCSender” services from “Local System
account” to specified user account “Parisadmin”. To that, just click the service
name, and select “Log On” tab, then select “This account” and click
“Browse…” to select user account “Parisadmin” and input password
“pdchi2002”

For FE:

After system installation and it works well, it’s better to:


• Backup the license to “E:\Backup” directory
• Make an image of partition C, if windows crashed, it may be used to recover C.
(Note: it is a mandatory step for the system not installed from GC PACS 1.5 Image CD, but
is an optional step for the system installed from Image CD because you may recover C:
partition from image CD directly)

Reference:

• Online "User Guide" in "C:\Program Files\PARISGC\PACS\manual" directory, or open it


from GC PACS 1.5 application.
• Ctrl+shift+F9 to active Task Manager
• Ctrl+shift+F11 to switch current active program
• Default service account of GC PACS 1.5 application and Windows system is “ekservice”
with password “ekhi2002”, which could not be changed.
• Default admin account of GC PACS 1.5 application is “Admin” with password “1234”,
which could and should be changed by system administrator.
