MATATAG Curriculum
The MATATAG Curriculum was launched on August 10, 2023. Prior to its phased implementation starting
SY 2024-2025, the Department of Education (DepEd) shall conduct the pilot implementation in reference
to DM 54, s. 2023 or the Pilot Implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum.

According to DepEd Order No. 03, series of 2024, DepEd moved the End of SY 2023-2024 to May
31, 2024, while the EOSY Break will now be from June 1 to July 26, 2024. The official start of the
School Year 2024-2025 will start on July 29 and will end on May 16, 2025, with the Brigada
Eskwela set to commence a week before the start of the new school year.

and Activities for the School Year (SY) 2023-2024".
3. VP Sara eyes pilot run of new SHS curriculum in SY 2025-2026. DepEd has cut down the number of

In August 2023, DepEd launched the revised K-10 curriculum of the K-12 program, which is now
being piloted in 35 schools nationwide. The Department of Education (DepEd) is currently in the
process of reviewing the curriculum for Grades 11 and 12 in a bid to produce more job-ready
and responsible graduates.
4. DepEd is set to launch the Basic Education Development Plan 2030 (BEDP 2030) on June 3, 2022, to
improve the delivery and quality of basic education.

2030 (BEDP 2030) on June 3 to provide a strategic roadmap to improve the delivery and quality
of basic education. BEDP 2030 is the first long-term plan of the Department for basic education,
covering formal education from 5 to 18 years old and non-formal education for youth and
adults.
5. DepEd issued RM 170, s. 2024, reconstituting the composition of the Regional Gender and
Development Focal Point System (GFPS) and the submission of the SDO GFPS.

The MATATAG Curriculum Guides (CGs) for Kindergarten, Grades 1, 4, and 7, which will be
implemented starting SY 2024-2025.
MATATAG stood for, “Make the curriculum relevant to produce job-ready, Active and
responsible citizens; TAke steps to accelerate the delivery of basic education services and
provision facilities; TAke good care of learners by promoting learner well-being, inclusiveness
learning, and positive learning environment; and, Give support for teachers to teach better.”
