The NeverEnding Story

Story Synopsis The book is a story written for children but can be enjoyed by teens and adults. The book was written in 1979 by the German/American author Michael Ende (1929 - 1995) and became a film in 1984. There have been 3 films that have been made all together. The story begins with a boy named Bastian Bux who it quiet by nature and likes to read a lot. During the plot he is reading a book and not before too long he realises that he has become part of the story that he's reading. The story is that of an adventure type where he fights for love and is tempted with the promise of power. The story is similar to that of the Narnia franchise by C.S.Lewis in it's escapist elements. The NeverEnding Story, culturally, looks at a boy with a troubling family life and is also bullied at school and how he longs for love and acceptance. The film and it's sequels follow this pattern as well.

Statement I choice a single image from each exert. The first is to be the that is the Ivory tower because I feel that it would be harder to visualise than the initial forest scene. The second Image is to be that of the transition of the night forest to the desert. This is to create a flow in the story and indicate the world changing. The final scene was to be that of the floating silver city. I decided that the Temple of a thousand doors would be better as a stand alon sequence rather than a single image.
