Position Description
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Located within the Scholarly Information Services (SIS) in the Services portfolio, Academic Competencies
& Digital Capabilities (ACDC) provides academic learning development support for students of all
disciplines, at all points of transition, and across all levels of study and program in order to enhance their
attainment and success. ACDC is dedicated to empowering students to become effective members of their
scholarly community.
As a central support service, the ACDC is a touchpoint for shaping university wide approaches to academic
literacies. Using evidence-based teaching and learning approaches, the ACDC specialises in fostering the
development of fundamental academic literacies and research skills within disciplinary contexts
Role Statement:
SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. Relevant tertiary qualification, with progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant
experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
2. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability
to create and build strong relationships with faculty members and other key stakeholders.
3. Proven ability to lead and work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently.
4. Demonstrated ability to plan, design, develop and evaluate high quality, best practice teaching and
learning resources.
5. Sound organisational and time management skills, including information technology literacy and the
ability to set priorities, problem-solve, manage projects and perform well during high-pressure peak
periods.
6. Demonstrated understanding of the needs of a diverse student cohort particularly international
students, indigenous students and students from equity groups.
7. Demonstrated high level of understanding of equal opportunity principles and a commitment to the
application of EO policies in a university context.

Academic Minimum Standards
