Points to be Taken Care while PCB Repairing

1) When Measuring Voltages towards IC1 & Capacitor C 805 always measure with respect to
C 805 negative Point

2) Symbol represents Primary (Hot) Ground

3) When measuring Voltages towards Secondary Section Multi meter‟s Negative Probe should
always be connected with CRT ground

4) Symbol represents Secondary (Cold) Ground

5) Don‟t touch live & Cold Section of Power Supply at the same time.

6) Before doing any cold check discharge any high value Electrolytic Capacitor with connecting Bulb
across its terminals.

Pulse Width Modulation

Wave Form 1. Shows I/P Pulse to Switching circuit Normal O/P.

Wave Form 2. Shows I/P Pulse to Switching circuit Low O/P.
Wave Form 3. Shows I/P Pulse to Switching circuit High O/P.

1 Cycle
Wave Form 1

Vp-p

Wave Form 2
Vp-p
Wave Form 3
Vp-p

If you compare Wave Form 1, Wave Form 2 & Wave Form 3 you can notice that the amplitude or the
frequency is not increased or decreased to correct the O/P, only the switching time is altered.
In case of High O/P from the SMPS the ON time is reduced to compensate and in case of Low O/P, ON
time is increased.
This technique is called as PWM ( Pulse Width Modulation).

RF TUNER

TDQ(EWTT-5T30-E01W-1

TDQ(EWT-5F3T43-E27W-1

A dual-conversion tuner up converts the

entire RF input to a fixed first intermediate

of interest. This allows the use of a fixed
frequency

IF filter to reject the image frequencies that

are created by the mixer. By first
TUNER

Pin No. DESC VOLT filtering, the signals become narrowband,
1 AGC 4.1 allowing the use of an image-reject type
2 NC 0 mixer, having very high rejection, for the

DVD Player
1) DVD, also known as Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc, is an optical disc
storage media format, and was founded in 1995. Its main uses are video and data
storage. DVDs are of the same dimensions as compact discs (CDs), but store more
than six times as much data.

2) It has a laser assembly that shines the laser beam onto the surface of the disc to

read the pattern of bumps. It converts Digital signals to Analog signals. Then it

Amplifies the signals & gives the Output.

3) Variations of the term DVD often describe the way data is stored on the discs: DVD-

ROM (read only memory) has data that can only be read and not written; DVD-R and

DVD+R (recordable) can record data only once, and then function as a DVD-ROM;

DVD-RW (re-writable), DV D+RW, and DVD-RAM (random access memory) can both

record and erase data multiple times. The wavelength used by standard DVD lasers is

650 nm; thus, the light has a red color.

4) The player also decodes the audio stream and sends it to a Dolby decoder, where it is

amplified and sent to the speakers.

292
DVD Discs

1. Storage capacity: A DVD stores up to 4.7GB per layer, per side. Using MPEG-2 compression, a
single-sided, single-layer DVD can easily accommodate an entire feature-length film with Multi
Channel Digital Audio.

2. Quality: DVD provides almost twice the video resolution of standard VCD.

3. Convenience and compatibility: Unlike the larger laser disc, a DVD is the same size and
thickness as a CD. Computer DVD drives support both CDs and DVDs. DVDs offer interactive
menus that let users randomly navigate content. The interactive capabilities of DVDs provides
unlimited possibilities for creating user experiences.

4. Durability: DVDs do not suffer loss of fidelity over time, because they don‟t come into direct
contact with the player‟s mechanics.

5. Computer industry: Recordable and rewritable DVDs provide the next generation of
convenience and higher capacity for data storage and archiving.

6. Motion picture industry: The movie industry has embraced DVDs because they can hold a full-
length feature film, while delivering excellent quality video with surround-sound audio.

7. Music industry: The high storage capacity enables the music industry to offer products on
DVD-Audio discs, which deliver higher quality sound than can be achieved on CDs.

293
Specifications of DVD Disc
While DVD optical discs are quite similar to CD-ROM discs, there are several physical differences.
The CD-ROM was originally designed to accommodate high quality audio, text based data, as well as
video data. CD's however are not well suited for the storing of broadcast quality video and due to their
650 MB limitation.
The DVD however, excels in the inherent weaknesses of the CD technology.

A home theater system is a combination of electronic

components designed to recreate the experience of
watching a movie in a theater.

When you go to see a movie in a quality

movie theater, you'll hear the music, sound
