III. Learning Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Preliminary

1. Prayer
May we all stand to feel the presence of
the Lord _____ kindly lead us a prayer.
(In the name of the Father, of the Son,
and the Holy Spirit, Amen.)

2. Greetings
Good morning, Class!
Good morning, Sir.

Before you take your sit, kindly arrange

your chairs and pick up those litters
around you.
Then, you may now take your sit.
Thank you, Sir.

3. Checking of Attendance

Secretary who is absent today?

No one is absent Sir.

That’s good to hear class! Very good

4. Review
Class what was our lesson yesterday?
The lesson yesterday sir was about
Solving Linear Inequalities in one
variable.

Very good!

B. Motivation

Now, take a look at this picture and let’s read the

short story.

One night, Mom, Dad and Zach are watching at

the sky. They start gazing at the stars. The child
is wondering what figure is formed if he connects
these dots. So, he starts connecting the dots.

Based on the figure that Zach formed, how many

points have you seen?
Yes, Paulyn? There are 19 points, sir.

Correct! How about lines? How many lines was

created?
Yes, Queenie? There are 20 lines created, sir.

Precisely! How many closed figures were

formed?
Yes, Sammuel? There are 2 closed figures formed, sir.

C. Discussion
This morning, let us explore and build your
understanding as I am going to discuss about the
undefined terms in Geometry. Undefined Terms in Geometry
Everybody read.

After the discussion, you are expected to meet all Objectives:

the objectives. Kindly read. A. Represented point, line, and
plane using concrete and
pictorial models;
B. Applied the concept of
undefined terms in geometry in
real world; and
C. Valued the importance of point,
line and plane in real-life
situations.

Before we unfold the main lesson, let us first

define what is Geometry?

Geometry is the branch of Mathematics that

studies the sizes, shapes, position of angles, and
dimensions of things. It comes from the Greek
word geo which means “earth” and metron which
means “measurement”.

A point is:
Shows an exact location
No size
No dimension
Represented by a dot (●)
Uses capital letters in naming a point

Points can also be classified as collinear and

coplanar.
Our Lady of the Pillar College – San Manuel, Inc.

Collinear Point
 Points that lie on the same line.
Coplanar Point
 Points that lie on the same plane

A line is:
Extends in two opposite directions
without end
Contains finite points
It is straight
Represented by a straight mark with two
arrow heads (↔)
Can be named using 2 points on a line

A plane is:
A flat surface that extends infinitely in all
directions
It has infinite length, width, and no
thickness
It is a flat surface
Slanted four-sided figure

Let’s have an example.

Based on the definitions given, what do you call Points sir.

these?

Very good! These are all points. What do you

think is the name of these points? The name of the points is Point A,
Yes, Joefer? Point B, Point C, and Point D.

Amazing! Can you think of an example of an

objects that could represent a point inside our Tip of a ballpen sir.
classroom?
Yes, Jaden?

Corner of the book sir.

Another example? Yes Ray Ann?

Spectacular! None sir.

Are there questions?

How about this one, what is this?

Yes, Camille?

It is a line sir.

Very good! What do you think is the name of this

line? The name of the line is Line m or RV or
Yes, Samuel? VR.

Correct! Can you think of an example of an

objects that could represent a line inside our
classroom? Line guides on intermediate paper sir.
Yes, Alyna?

Curtain rod sir.

Very good! Another example?
Yes Narell?

None sir.
Marvelous! Are there questions?

Let’s move on to the next one.

Based on the definitions, what is it? A plane sir.

Yes, Jaja?

Very good! What do you think is the name of this

plane? The name is plane P or plane FGH.
Yes, Queenie?

Excellent! Can you think of an example of an

objects that could represent a plane inside our
classroom? A sheet of paper sir.
Yes, Andrea?

Correct! Another example? Surface of the floor sir.

Yes, Nathaniel?

That’s right! None sir.

Now, are there questions?

D. Application

From this time class, I will group you into four.

Find as many objects as you can that could
represent a point, line, and plane in 10 minutes
only. The group that will have the more correct
objects will win.

(The teacher will provide marker and worksheet

on each group to answer)

Yes sir.
Am I clear?

Yes sir.
Are you ready class?

Possible Answers:
Let’s begin! Point:

 Corner of tiles
 Tip of hand clock
 Tip of pencil
Line:
 Edge of tile
 Edge of blackboard
 Edge of the table
Plane:
 Board
 Books
 Map
 Table
 Tile

Time is up! Present your answers on the board.

(Check the answers)

The group who got many correct is the group 2.

E. GENERALIZATION

Again class, what is a Geometry? Geometry is the branch of Mathematics

that studies the sizes, shapes, position of
angles, and dimensions of things. It
comes from the Greek word geo which
means “earth” and metron which means
“measurement”.

And, what is point? A point is a geometric element that has

zero dimension and it can be represented
by a dot. It is denoted by capital letters.

And also point can be classified as what? Points can also be classified as collinear
and coplanar.

What is the difference between collinear and

coplanar point? Collinear Point
 Points that lie on the same line.
Coplanar Point

 Points that lie on the same plane

A line is a collection of points along

What is a line? straight path with no end. It is named by
using two capital letters on the line or
lowercase script letter.

A plane is a flat surface that extends to

And last, what is a plane? infinity and it is composed of many
points. It is named by using capital
script letter or using three points that are
on the plane but not on the same line

Very good!

F. VALUING

Now that we have discussed the undefined terms

in Geometry, what is the importance of points, (Student answers)
lines and planes in your life?

Well said! Even though these terms are

considered undefined, these are important in
Geometry and to our lives. For me, point
represents myself who stands by my own. Lines
describe the path towards my goal to success.

IV. EVALUATION
A. Knowledge: NAME ME!
Direction: Identify what is asked.
1. It is a flat surface that extends infinitely in all directions.

3. It is represented as a four-sided figure.
4. It is denoted by a dot.
5. It is represented by a straight mark with two arrow heads.

B. Process
Direction: Tell whether each represents a point, a line or a plane.
1. Laptop desktop 3. String of a guitar
2. Surface page of a notebook 4. Broomstick

5. Electric Wire 8. Cellphone Screen

6. Surface of the floor 9. Clothesline
7. Needle point 10. Tip of the pencil

V. ASSIGNMENT
