members for various information. Read part of her email and
write back to her.

course book and other materials you use and whether you feel
it has been a good or bad choice. In addition, do you have any
study suggestions or learning tips which helped you, and might
help other members improve their English? Could you also tell
us how you found out about Students’ World, and what made
you decide to become a member? We would like to include
members’ responses on the website, but we will not do this
without your permission. May we use your answers in this
way?”
Dear Ms. Edwards,
Thank you for your email of March 10 th. I am so happy to
hear from you. (I am so happy to hear that you are
asking members of Students’ World for various
information about learning English online). I am writing
to answer your questions.
The main course book and other materials I use are Headlines
1, Streamline 2 and Speakout Elementary. I feel it has been a
good choice. These books are interesting and useful.
I have some study suggestions or learning tips which helped
me, and might help other members improve their English. I
always try to talk in English with friends. I also listen to
English songs and learn new words every day. It’s a good idea
to watch films with subtitle.
I could also tell you how I found out about Students’ World, and
what made me decide to become a member. Some of my friends
recommended your website to me because it is very helpful and
informative. I would like to speak English well, so I decided to
signed up.
Concerning using my answers on the website, I would say
please feel free to do that. I hope they would be of great help to
others.
(You may use my answers in that way. I hope they would be of
great help to others.)

If you need any further information, do not hesitate to

contact me.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

2. You have just received an email from one of your customers.

Part of the email is as followed.
“I have recently bought a vacuum cleaner from your electric
shop. It seemed to work well at first. However, there are some
problems with it now. The first one is that it is always making a
loud noise whenever I turn it on. Also, it cannot be pushed
easily. When I called your hotline to ask for help on Monday,
your staff was not willing to tell me what to do. I would like to
know why he behaved like that. I also require either an
exchange for a new one or a full refund. Let me know your
decision. Thank you.”
Write a reply letter. You should write at least 120 words.

Dear Mrs. Browns,

Thank you for your email of May 10th. I am so sorry to
hear that you are not satisfied with the vacuum cleaner
which you have recently bought from our electric shop. I
am writing to answer your questions.
Our staff was not willing to tell you what to do because he is
new in our shop. He is still not good at dealing with complaints
from customers. I have talked to him and please accept his
sincere apology. We will train him to be more professional.
Regarding your requirement, I am afraid we could not give you
a full refund. It is not our policy. Instead, I would like to
exchange a new vacuum cleaner for you. It would be great if
you could bring it to the shop by May 20th.
If you need any further information, do not hesitate to
contact me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
