A. The professionals in urban planning and designing

1. The common roles and responsibilities of urban planner, urban designer and
architectural designer
- Work to develop cities
- Make cities more attractive and functional
- Work towards creating sustainable and flexible spaces that improve the quality of
life, for people living, working and travelling to the area.
- Utilize similar design and planning software, such as AutoCAD GIS
2. The specific roles and responsibilities of urban planner, urban designer,
architectural and civil and structural designers
2.1. The roles and responsibilities of Urban planner
- Working closely with public and governmental officials to plan and execute new
development plans.
- The act of planning the structures of the city which includes its policies,
infrastructure neighborhoods, building code and regulations.
- More technical and political, and is on the strategy, structure and policy level.
- Involved in the actual planning of a public space.
- To engage to community and see that land is being developed in a way that will
benefit the member the most.
- Often begin by speaking to the public and gathering market research data on
what exactly the community wants and needs.
- Work with public officials and land developers to create a plan to develop building
and parks that can be enjoyed by everyone.
- The goal of urban planner is to assess public space such as parks, home shelters
and area that might attract new business.
- An urban planner includes: deciding which building sites should be zoned for
residential, commercial or industrial purpose, so land is developed properly and
softly being aware of building codes and ensuring the proposed project adheres
to them analyzing data based on map and population densities implementing
plan to project historic site and building.
2.2. The roles and responsibilities of Urban designer
- Help in creation of city features based on plan. It includes everything from public
space to infrastructure, as well as transportation, landscape and community
accommodations.
- More focused on design and user experience and operate at the feature and
system and system level.
- Thrive on designer space that will make the public happy, they develop plans for
the actual building and park that will be built.
- Are much more interested in the look and feel of space.

2
- Meet with clients and utilize program such as Sketch up, GIS and AutoCAD to
create blueprints for public buildings and city parks.
2.3. The roles and responsibilities of Architectural designer
- Meeting with clients and determining their needs and requirements.
- Visit land site for analyze about environment and weather on the area
- Creating drawings, designs, and layouts.
- Complying with industry regulations.
- Managing design projects from concept development through to completion.
- Developing and presenting project proposals.
- Adjusting designs and plans to meet the client's needs.
- Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Researching and incorporating artistic elements into designs as needed.

B. The professionals in construction value chain

1. The common roles and responsibilities of architectural designer and civil and
structural and MEP designers in construction value chain
C. Roles of Architects in Construction
Once an architect is contacted by a client, a meeting is called to discuss the
project needs and requirements. Several meetings may take place until both parties
are satisfied with the conceptual design. However, designing an entire building is a
huge task for a single person; architects work with civil and structural engineers to
discuss technical issues and the structural integrity of a building.
D. Project Discussion
An architect is hired by a client to create a detailed design of a concept or idea that a
client wants to bring to life. Meetings and discussions with different team members
and engineering professionals take place before the design approval. Some topics
that must be discussed during those meetings are client requirements, expected
budget, site characteristics, safety and local planning regulations.
E. Documentation and Drawings
Architects are responsible for creating detailed drawings and testing the project
feasibility. Traditionally this was done by hand, but modern BIM and CAD software
speed up the process significantly. During this stage, multiple revisions and
redrawing take place to incorporate changes based on client needs, budget and
regulations.
F. Cost Estimation
Cost estimation at different stages of the project allows better control over the
budget. Architects visualize the whole building structure, bringing creative designs and
ideas to the construction industry, but these also require an underlying structural design
and MEP installations.
Architects and engineers must be careful not to underestimate the cost of materials
and construction time, since this helps provide effective cost estimations. The amounts of
details presented by architects in their cost estimations depends on their extent of work:
they can be in charge of presenting a complete construction estimation, or just a part such
as landscaping

1. The specific roles and responsibilities of architectural designer and civil and
structural and MEP designer in construction value chain
4.1. The roles and responsibilities of Architectural designer
An Architect, or Architectural Designer, is responsible for designing buildings
to create unique and well-organized structures. Their duties include meeting with
clients to discuss their vision, drawing up building plans and modifying their designs
throughout the building process to maximize structural integrity.
4.2. The roles and responsibilities of Civil and structural designer
The job of a civil structural designer is to provide engineering services for the
construction of buildings, bridges, and structure foundation. Your responsibilities in
this career include producing 3D models and 2D drawings with CAD software in
accordance with project specifications.
4.3. The roles and responsibilities of MEP designer
The MEP in construction is responsible for the design, installation, and
maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a building. These
systems are essential to the safety and comfort of the occupants and must be
properly designed and installed to function properly.

 Urban planners are involved in the actual planning of public space.

 It is their job to engage the community and see that land is being develop in a
way that will benefit the member the most.

 Of an urban planner includes: Deciding which building sites should be zoned for

safely being aware of building codes and ensuring the proposed project adheres
to them analyzing data based on map and population densities implementing

2. What does urban designer use and follow for designing a space?

 Urban designer is much more interested in the look and feel of the space

 urban designers, on their hand and landscape of public space-bott attempt to

make city more attractive and functional but there are subtitle different between
them to be aware of.

 on their hand urban designer helps in creation of city feature based on plan.

 Urban designer also thrives on designer space that will make the public happy,
but they are more similar to architects in that they develop plans for the actual
building and park that will be built.

3. What does architectural designer use and follow for designing a building?

 Architectural designer focus on volume and structure reflection of the stage of

society.
 To covert the dream to become reality.

6
4. What does civil and structural designer use and follow for designing the structure of a
building?

 Civil designers use design software to plan and draft 2D and 3D designs for
various municipal building and construction projects. These can include roads,
bridges, waterways, sewage lines, drainage systems and utilities. They refer to
maps and topographical surveys for grading land and nearby structures and use
the information to develop plans for commercial and residential building
projects. They review engineering drawings to ensure they are accurate, get
proper building permits from government authorities and follow local regulations
and building code requirements. Civil designers stay updated on local coding
laws and work with project engineers and civil engineers.

 When designing structures of buildings and commercial properties for various

communities, it is important to consider their safety and longevity. Structural
designers perform structural analysis and apply scientific methods in designing
buildings that can withstand earthquakes, cyclones and other stresses. If you
are interested in working in civil engineering, an understanding of structural
design can help you ensure that new structures in a community are safe and
effective. In this article, we answer, "What is structural design in civil
engineering?", learn about its key principles and explore the different types of
careers involving structural design.
