Foundation Plan
Foundation Plan
1. Prepare for the structural sheets by doing some background research (explained in the
previous tab)
2. This submission must present the following in Sheet S2 to S(?)
a. Foundation Plan (1:50). Use wall foundation supported by strip footing OR use
pedestals (with isolated footing) supporting plinth beams that support the slab on
grade. Show your temp bars for the slab-on-grade. Locate your T&B on the second
floor because these will have concrete slabs supported by reinforced concrete
beams (RCB) which in turn will have to be supported by reinforced concrete columns
(RCC). Reflect the RCC & footing in your Foundation Plan.
b. Footing plus Pedestal or Wall Foundation and Footing plus RCC details (1:30)
with rebar details shown as PLAN and SECTION drawings. Use 250mm x 250mm
RCC with 6-16mm Ø main bars supported by footing: 900mm x 900mm x 300mm
with 7-16mm Ø mat bars both ways @ (to be computed) spacing.
c. Section Detail (cut-away, 1:50) from footing (start with earth, gravel bed) to slab-on-
grade to 2nd floor joist framing to roof beam
d. Structural Stair Details (align with section detail in item 2c, 1:50); Wall Framing
Details (for load-bearing walls; show wood studs, etc.)
3. Anticipate the next submission will involve the following:
a. Second Floor Framing (wooden beams/girders + joists; RCB, 1:50) plus Joist
Framing Blow-up or cut-away isometric/perspective to show parts (NTS, just big
enough to see)
b. Connection Details for Post & Beam and Details for RCB where necessary
(1:30)
Take a picture of the WHOLE sheets S2... S?, and then take "zoomed" pics per quadrant. Compile all
of these pictures into ONE PDF file as follows: WHOLE sheets first, zoomed pics last. File must be
named: SURNAME_GivenName(s)_Plate3b.pdf and submit in this assignment tab. Be sure to take
PRESENTABLE pictures so that your drafting is readable. Having a clear white background would be
helpful. Using two lampshades or a ring light would also help. Again, be sure to take PRESENTABLE
pictures.
Notes:
there will be no sample for this plate. (learn to research on your own and present what is
listed above)
use proper linetypes (hidden, center line, phantom lines, solid, etc.) and line weights (3H, HB,
2B for pencil and 0.1, 0.5, 0.8 for ink - thin lines dimension lines, middle thickness for text,
thick lines for door and window edges, etc.
use "architecture grade" penmanship.
work smart and fast, but DO NOT RUSH your drafting by sacrificing drafting quality; avoid
FREEHAND, especially if your hand is not "architecture grade".
check the rubrics so that you know how your output will be graded.
