The Tagoloan Police Station was created during the incumbency of then
Municipal Mayor Vivencio Valdehuesa sometimes in the year 1942 and the first Chief of
Police is a certain Sgt. Gomez and composed of only six (6) police officers.
The police officers during that time were sporting their uniform in Khaki with
upper long sleeves.
From the year 1980 to 1986, the Tagoloan Police Station was manned by a
bigger strength of thirty (30) policemen
The following Chiefs of Police and Officer-In-Charge had served this station
since the time of its founding;
The old building of Tagoloan Police Station was constructed beside the old
Municipal Hall and in the year 2005 during the incumbency of Municipal Mayor Yevgeny
Vincente B. Emano and Chief of Police PSI Nannette Priscion Odchigue the police station
was transferred to the building fronting the National Highway which was previously occupied
by the Municipal Planning and Development Office and since then the building is the
Headquarters of Tagoloan Police Station with an air-conditioned offices of the Chief of
Police, Investigation Section and Intelligence and Operation Section.
Because of the initiative of the former COP PSI MARICRIS Y MULAT and
through the support and effort of the late Mayor Paulino “Oloy” Yap Emano, the new Type A
PNP Building was constructed and materialized. The newly constructed building was turned-
over on March 23, 2017 and it was then blessed by REV. FR. ERENIO TACASTACAS of
Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria Parish Priest. Since then, Tagoloan PNP personnel has
its own PNP Building, occupying in a more convenient, spacious, well ventilated, and
comfortable office to work in.
With these realization, personnel from Tagoloan Police Station headed by its
energetic chief of police has constantly visited different barangays in the municipality and
thereby conducted lecture and orientation of crime prevention and organized the Barangay
Peackeeping Action Team (BPAT) in every barangay.
The BPAT members upon their organization were taught and harness in the
crime prevention, disaster preparedness, assistance to law enforcement and information
gathering.
d. Pulong-Pulong
Tagoloan Police Station has a good partnership with the barangay officials in
all of the Barangay of municipality of Tagoloan in the crime prevention programs wherein
the chief of police and some personnel has regularly attended the monthly meeting of the
Barangay officials to have a “pulong-pulong” or discussions with them relative to crime
prevention, responsibilities of Barangay pulis and other issues and concern of the officials in
relation to peace and order of their respective barangay.
e. Tourism Promotion
By whatever legend Tagoloan got its name, today it is considered the: Home
of the Tigers” owing to the disciplined people living in the municipality.
With these fixed boundaries, the land area of Tagoloan had shrunk to only
7,938.9035 hectares. And yet this greatly shrunken land area still suffered further attrition by
Presidential Decree (P.D.) 538 which created the Phividec Industiral Estate in the later part of
1974 and set aside some 1,558.4000 hectares of prime and coastal land areas for its
multinational clientele.
Thus Tagoloan shall maintain her role as the heart and hub of industrialization
of Misamis Oriental and the Cagayan-Iligan Corridor stretch. Together with its adjacent
municipal-neighbor Villanueva, Tagoloan shall also strengthen its role as the regional
industrial center of Northern Mindanao (Region X).
At present, Tagoloan is a 1st class according in income class municipality in
the province of Misamis Oriental and the first municipality east of Misamis Oriental . It is
South of Cagayan de Oro City and East of Malitbog, Bukidnon. It is about 19 kilometers
from the provincial capital of Cagayan de Oro City. It is residential and industrial
municipality, it has 6 High schools, 1 college, and 2 hospitals. Tagoloan uses the zip code
9001 based on the List of Philippine Zip Codes and has 28,064 registered voters on 2010 with
a latest total population of 90,226 as of 2021.
Among the barangays, Sta Ana is the largest, comprising 37 percent of the
municipality’s land area. Barangays Rosario, which includes contested areas between
Municipality of Tagoloan and Municipality of Malitbog, Bukidnon and Sta Cruz, occupy
relatively bigger areas (11.2%) than the other nine barangays. The Gross Population Density
of Tagoloan in 2004 is 650 persons per square kilometer.
The land area of Tagoloan is suitable for six major uses, which include
protection forest, plantation forest, rice, tree and vine, pasture and cultivated crops. About
2,405 hectares or 30 percent of Tagoloan’s total area are suitable for forest uses. Riceland is
suitable for 2,199 hectares or about 28 percent, while the cultivation of annual crops are
suited for 2,024 hectares or about 25 percent. Tagoloan River that is located beside Barangay
Poblacion is the 13th largest river system in the Philippines.
