III. Learning Procedure
A. Preparation Review of the past lesson
a. The teacher will let the pupils read the words presented and ask the
pupils about their insights on the words and pictures presented.
b. Ask the pupils:
- What are these words again?
(Homonyms)
- What are Homonyms again?
- Give more examples of Homonyms.
B. Motivation a. Group the class into 4 teams.
b. Remind them the things to remember during group activity.
c. Let each teams form the puzzles.
d. After forming the puzzle, they need to clap 3 times and say the
names of the pictures that they have formed.
e. Let the pupils explain the use and difference or the meaning of the
words basing on the pictures.
C. Presentation The teacher will introduce the lesson to the pupils with precise
delivery of discussion.

The teacher will tell the pupils that these words are called
HOMOGRAPHS.

The teacher will give more examples of homographs.

Same spelling and same pronunciation:


1. bark- (noun) covering of a tree

2. bark- (verb) to make a sound made by dogs


3. close- (verb) to shut
4. close- (adverb) describe something that is nearby

Same spelling but different pronunciation:


1. wind- (noun) fast moving air
2. wind- (verb) to twist or turn
3. tear- (noun) produced when a person cry
4. tear- (verb) to rip apart
D. Generalization a. The teacher will encourage the pupils to explain what is homograph
basing on the given examples.
b. The teacher will give a brief reflection about the importance of
learning homographs.
- It is important to learn homographs so that we will be able to use
them in a right and correct way for better understanding of what we
are reading.
IV. Evaluation Identify the sentence that corresponds to the homograph.

1. Bow- (verb) bend at the waist


a. The group took a bow after the performance.
b. The fisherman tied a rope into a bow.

2. Present- (noun) a gift


a. She was present in school today.
b. I want to buy a present for my mother.

3. Minute- (adjective) small/ tiny


a. There are 60 minutes in an hour.
b. I saw a minute creature.

4. Watch- (verb) to look


a. Erika likes to watch her favorite noon time show.
b. My mother bought me an American watch.

5. Fine- (adverb) feeling good


a. I am fine with that decision.
b. There is a fine in not obeying rules.
V. Assignment In a clean sheet of pad paper, give 5 examples of homographs and use
it in sentences.
