Exercise 3.1 - Create Items


Business Scenario
Your company has decided to offer 3 new instructor led courses and you have been asked
to create them. You must follow the following business rules:

i. Item IDs, Titles, and Descriptions MUST start with your initials. You may create
your own naming convention but it must start with your initials

For example, Rachel Marie Franklin (RMF) is creating an IT Policy Item:


 Item ID: RMF-IT_POLICY
 Item Title: RMF IT Policy
 Item Description: RMF - This course covers the IT Policy

ii. All items must be in the ACME-CORP Domain


iii. All items must have “Course” as the Item Type
iv. All items should consist of formatted descriptions, i.e. bold, italics, underline text,
font color, etc. (NOTE: see below to enable HTML descriptions)
v. All items must be made available in the General catalog, expiring December
31st of the current calendar year. They also need to be part of the Technology
Subject Area
vi. All Segments must have a description
vii. All items need to have your email as the Contact Email address
viii. Specify a minimum registration of 5 and a max registration of 15
ix. Before an employee can take LMS Admin Training, he or she must have
completed both LMS User Training and LMS Supervisor Training, or the New
Employee Orientation (“NEO”) Curriculum already in system. Create a pre-requisite
relationship to demonstrate this scenario
x. Effective January 1, 2013, any user who completes the item: “Plateau Systems
Administration” should receive collateral credit for YOUR LMS Admin Training item

Using your SAP SuccessFactors Learning instance, create items.

Business Rules
The items were described to you as follows:

A. LMS Admin Training


This is a live instructor led training that is delivered in person and was
developed internally. Users who complete this training will receive 20 credit
hours in their learning history. The breakdown for each day of the course is:
1. Terms, Concepts and Navigation – 8 hours
2. Learning Needs Management – 8 hours
3. Scheduling Management – 8 hours
4. Online Concepts – 8 hours

5. Exams and Evaluations – 4 hours

B. LMS User Training


This is a live instructor led training that is delivered virtually and was developed
by a vendor. Users who complete this item should receive 1 Credit hour. The
training is only 1 hour in duration.

C. LMS Supervisor Training


This is a live instructor led training that is delivered virtually and was developed
by a vendor. Users who complete this item should receive 2 Credit hours. The
training is 2 hours in duration

Step 1
Create the items and then do the following:

1. Run the following reports as PDFs (choose PDF in the Report Format field) and save
them:
i. Item Data report that only returns these three items.
Note: Pre-requisites and substitutes will not appear on this report.
ii. Substitutes Relationship report to show the correct substitute has been set for
your LMS Admin Training items. List by items granting credit for selected items.
iii. Item with Prerequisite Items report to show the prerequisites were set for your
LMS Admin Training.
2. Send your report(s) in one email with the subject Ex3.1: Create Items - ## (Replace
## with your instance number) to your instructor(s).

Step 2
Enable HTML descriptions (if not already enabled). To enable HTML descriptions for all
Items / Curricula:

1. Navigate to System Admin > Configuration > System Configuration


2. Edit the file: LMS_ADMIN
3. Search for enableHTML
4. Set the property enableHTMLDescriptions to true (from =false)

# This configuration is used to enable HTML for item descriptions. The feature
should only be enabled if the following feature has also been enabled: HTML-based
Configurable Tiles. Default: false

Exercise 3.2 - Create Curricula


Instructions
Using your SAP SuccessFactors Learning instance, create a curriculum with the following
specifications.

Step 1
Add a Curriculum

1. Create a new curriculum called SF Learning Training (Use your initials in the ID,
Title, and Description).
i. Place the new curriculum in the ACME-CORP Domain and select Force
Incomplete.
ii. The Curriculum should have formatted description, i.e. bold, italics, underline
text, font color, etc. (See note below to enable HTML descriptions)
iii. Create and activate a Custom Curriculum Cover Page for the SF Learning
Training curriculum.
iv. Add the items you created in the earlier activity (LMS User Training, LMS
Supervisor Training, and LMS Admin Training).
v. All Items are REQUIRED and Effective Today.
vi. All Items are due June 30th every year, regardless of when the curriculum was
assigned.
vii. Add the curriculum to the TECH Subject Area.
viii. Add the curriculum to the General catalog.
2. Run the Curriculum Data report (as PDF) for your Curriculum

Step 2
Add a Sub Curriculum

1. Add the LMS Tutorial Curriculum (already created in the system) to be a Sub-
Curriculum to your SF Learning Training Curriculum you created in a previous
activity.
2. Run the Curriculum Data report (as PDF) for your SF Learning Training
Curriculum. Be sure the report includes Sub-Curricula.

Step 3
Add a Requirement

1. Create a new Requirement, selecting the # Items from Pool of Items option (Use
your initials in the ID and Description).
i. Place the new requirement in the CORP Domain.
ii. Create a pool of 10 items containing the word asbestos in the Title.

iii. Enter the required number of Items to be: 5.


iv. Create a new Asbestos Curriculum and add your newly created Requirement, be
sure to populate an effective date.
v. The Curriculum should have formatted description, i.e. bold, italics, underline text,
font color, etc.
vi. The Requirement should be completed within 60 days of getting the Curriculum
assigned and should be retrained every 365 days.
2. Run the Curriculum Data report (as PDF) for your Curriculum.
3. Email all three reports to your instructor(s).
Send your report(s) in one email with the subject Ex3.2: Create Curricula - ##
(replace ## with your instance number) to your instructor(s).

Step 4
Enable HTML descriptions (if not already enabled). To enable HTML descriptions for all
Items / Curricula:

1. Navigate to System Admin > Configuration > System Configuration


2. Edit the file: LMS_ADMIN
3. Search for enableHTML
4. Set the property enableHTMLDescriptions to true (from =false)

# This configuration is used to enable HTML for item descriptions. The feature
should only be enabled if the following feature has also been enabled: HTML-based
Configurable Tiles. Default: false
