TOPIC/ PROBLEM

TOPIC: An investigation into the reason why students prefers to purchase lunch from outside vendors as
apposed to school cafeteria.

PROBLEM: Considering the large amount of pupils the school of Alpine Academy has, a lot of outside
vendors has taken the chance to sell their food items. It has been seen that many students prefers to
buy lunch from outside vendors than their own school cafeteria. Thus, this SBA will explore the reason
students prefers to purchase lunch from outside vendors than their own school cafeteria.

OBJECTIVES

1) To determine the price of the products sold at outside vendors and the school cafeteria.
2) To find out the reason why students prefers to buy lunch from outside vendors than their own
school cafeteria.
3) To determine the different food products and quality that supplied by the outside vendors and
school cafeteria.

BACKGROUND OVERVIEW

Each day students of Alpine Academy school buys food products as a result becoming the customers of
the school cafeteria and outside vendors. Thus, this topic is important to gather evidence of what forces
students to buy from the school cafeteria and outside vendors and the advantages of buying from both
places. Therefore this topic can have remarkable importance also in the well-being and safety of the
students. Furthermore in gaining profits and customers loyalty. From the researcher observation, it has
been seen that many school students prefers to buy lunch from outside vendors than their own school
cafeteria. This SBA will serve as a basis to present the different reasons why these students have these
preferences and how it affects them and the society as a whole.

METHODOLOGY

This SBA will be directed to students who attend Alpine Academy school, the ages of 15 to17, where
they will be assessed using questionnaire which will be asking a number of 12 relevant questions. In
order to gather information and assess the students. This process of gaining answers from the
questionnaire will take up to 24hrs, which will collected and analyzed in order to discover the reasons
for students buying from outside vendors than their own school cafeteria.

ANALYSIS OF DATA
According in the collected data, it can be said that 75% of students said (yes) that
the price was cheaper at the outside vendors than the school cafeteria, and 25%
said ( no). The research also shows that 70% of students prefers to purchase lunch
from outside vendors because of the affordable prices, 20% because of the
service, while 10% said because the quality of products sold. Additionally it also
shows that 70% of students said that the quality of items sold by the outside
vendors was Superior, while 20% said average quality, and 10% students said
inferior quality.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion the school based assessment on the reason why students prefers to
buy lunch from outside vendors than their own school cafeteria at Alpine
Academy school provides valuable insights into the preferences of students. The
researcher had concluded that the reason why students prefer to buy from
outside vendors because of the service , good quality, and cheap prices.

RECOMMENDATION
Even though 80% of students prefer to buy lunch from outside vendors than their
own school cafeteria it is shown that its more risky to purchase lunch from
outside vendors than their own school cafeteria. The researcher strongly
recommend that the school cafeteria staff provides reasonable services, good
quality lunch so that students wont have to go elsewhere to get it. So if anything
happens parents knows whom exactly to go to for answers. The researcher also
recommend that more healthy lunches should be provided so that they could
perform more effective in there academic work.
