Lexus Technician:
Before you perform a Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) on this vehicle, be sure you:
• Read and understand this PDS Manual
• Read and understand all applicable PDS Technical Service Information Bulletins (TSIBs) for this vehicle
• Read and understand the PDS Precautions in the TSIBs and pages 2, 60, 62
• Attend the “Technical Introduction to Lexus Course L005” at the Lexus Area Office
When performing a PDS on this vehicle:
• Use the PDS Manual when performing this service
• Check the Techincal Information System (TIS) for any updated PDS TSIBs
(TSIBs) that apply to the model you are servicing
• Verify the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on repair order and vehicle match
• Lift vehicle and perform undervehicle safety/damage inspection
• Road test vehicle long enough to test hot engine and driven over rough road/Bott dots to test for
rattles/squeaks
• When completed, sign Vehicle Delivery Certificate, located in the glovebox
Contact your District Service & Parts Manager if you have any questions.
As part of the PDS road test, the vehicle must be driven over a rough road surface or over Bott Dots in
order to check for squeeks and rattles. If a rough surface is not available for this road test, Bott Dots
should be installed on the dealership property where vehicles can be safely driven 5 to 10 mph. (See Bott
Dots installation instructions below, as recommended and provided by TMC Quality Division.) Bott Dots
are commonly available at industrial supply outlets.

The RX450h has unique operating modes, so always follow the precautions below when per-
forming the PDS operation:
• The RX450h contains high voltage (288-650 volts) AC and DC Systems. All high voltage
wiring and connections are orange in color. Do not carelessly touch these orange colored
wiring harnesses and connectors.
• The hybrid system may start up and shut down suddenly whenever the “READY” light is
illuminated. Be sure to put the selector lever in “P”, apply the parking brake, and se-
lect the “POWER” switch in the OFF in order to stop the hybrid system (the
“READY” light goes OFF), before working in the engine compartment.
• The hybrid transaxle, engine radiator, and inverter radiator may reach high temperatures
during inspection. Carefully observe all caution labels and instructions on these compo-
nents.
• Be sure to keep the selector lever in “P” at all times unless otherwise instructed. When the
selector lever is in “N”, the hybrid vehicle battery will not charge even if the gasoline en-
gine is operating.
• When leaving the vehicle, put the selector lever in “P”, apply the parking brake, and push
the “POWER” switch in the OFF in order to stop the hybrid system (the “READY” light
goes OFF).
• Air vents are located under the rear seats to cool the hybrid vehicle battery. Do not block
these air vents.
• Do not splash water on the electric components in the engine compartment.
