Task 1: Smoked foods are popular worldwide because of their

special flavor and their long life. The diagram below shows the
structure of a home smokey and how it is used.

The diagram depicts how a home smokey functions. Overall, most of the production process of
smoked foods is conducted underground. The production is continuous and only presumably
ceases once the first lid is accidentally closed, or insufficient material to generate fire.
First of all, a lid is opened to get the fresh air from the ground level to make logs of wood
producing fire to create steam. This procedure is done entirely underground. Afterwards, steam
from fire usually evaporates through any open space so the closet lid on the top is closed in order
to preserve the heat and the smoke. Alternatively, the wood vapor goes out through the pipe
connecting the fire to the surface which hangs potential smoked fish. In order to maintain the
heat on the ground which keeps the eatables, a box is constructed to cover the fish. Through the
heat under the base level, raw material is cooked and ready to be served.

Task 2: In many countries, a small number of people earn

extremely high salaries. Some people believe that this is good for
the country, but others think that governments should not allow
salaries above a certain level. Discuss both views and give your
own opinion.
Income disparity has been happening in several countries. Many
suggestions for this development have arisen, including
governments interfering to limit individuals’ salaries and
continuing this occurrence. This essay will address both views
before concluding the writer’s viewpoint.

There are many valid reasons showing that limiting the income of
the small number of huge money-makers is advantageous. These
handfuls of rich people will possess more power than other
people for their success, and arguably the government too.
Therefore, their influence on important decisions is more visible
and impactful, and this may not lead to a better outcome. For
example, it is reported that wealthy individuals in South Korea
have been owning the power to sway the officials on their side to
gain benefit regardless of ordinary citizens. Therefore, restricting
an individual’s income to a certain level will eliminate the
possibility of political instability.

However, the later point believers have their own reasonings. To

begin with, since the money one can make cannot be estimated,
more people are motivated to work. Rich people try to be richer,
and poor people try to improve their circumstances; and it
pushes productivity and enhances the overall economic status.
Furthermore, more well-off citizens means that more investment
in major infrastructure projects. In fact, in Vietnam, the fund for
the metro construction in two biggest cities comes mostly from
affluent individuals. This decreases the money burden on the
government to improve quality of life.

In conclusion, even though setting a maximum of salaries might

be beneficial due to potential overpowering acts from huge
money-makers, I stand with the idea that salaries should not be
limited to promote productivity and lessen government’s funding
burden. The officials must find a way to work with wealthy people
and strength their power simultaneously.
