What is a Blog?
A blog is a type of website where the content is presented in reverse chronological order (newer content
appear first). Blog content is often referred to as entries or “blog posts”.

Blogs are typically run by an individual or a small group of people to present information in a
conversational style.

However, now there are tons of corporate blogs that produce a lot of informational and thought
leadership style content.

A blog is a type of website that focuses mainly on written content, also known as blog posts. In popular
culture we most often hear about news blogs or celebrity blog sites, but as you’ll see in this guide, you
can start a successful blog on just about any topic imaginable.

Bloggers often write from a personal perspective that allows them to connect directly with their readers.
In addition, most blogs also have a “comments” section where readers can correspond with the blogger.
Interacting with your readers in the comments section helps to further the connection between the
blogger and the reader.

This direct connection to the reader is one of the main benefits of starting a blog. This connection allows
you to interact and share ideas with other like-minded people. It also allows you to build trust with your
readers. Having the trust and loyalty of your readers also opens up the door to making money from your
blog, which is something I will discuss later in this group

What is a domain name?

A domain name is your website name. A domain name is the address where Internet users can access
your website. A domain name is used for finding and identifying computers on the Internet. Computers
use IP addresses, which are a series of number. However, it is difficult for humans to remember strings
of numbers. Because of this, domain names were developed and used to identify entities on the Internet
rather than using IP addresses.

A domain name can be any combination of letters and numbers, and it can be used in combination of
the various domain name extensions, such as .com, .net and more.

The domain name must be registered before you can use it. Every domain name is unique. No two
websites can have the same domain name. If someone types in www.yourdomain.com, it will go to your
website and no one else's.

The price of a domain name typically runs between $15-25 per year. With Website.com, a professional
domain name is included for free with all premium site builder plans.
What's a subdomain name

A subdomain is an additional part to your main domain name. Subdomains are created to organize and
navigate to different sections of your website. You can create multiple subdomains or child domains on
your main domain.

For example: nikefashionstore.blogspot.com

What's is Web hosting?

Web hosting is the place where all the files of your website live. It is like the home of your website
where it actually lives.
A good way to think about this is if the domain name was the address of your house, then web hosting is
the actual house that address points to. All websites on the internet, need web hosting.
When someone enters your domain name in a browser, the domain name is translated into the IP
address of your web hosting company’s computer. This computer contains your website’s files, and it
sends those files back to the users’ browsers.

Web hosting companies specialize in storing and serving websites. They offer different types of hosting
plans to their customers.

How Domain Names and Web Hosting are related?

Domain names and web hosting are two different services. However, they work together to make
websites possible.

Basically a domain name system is like a massive address book that is constantly updated. Behind each
domain name, there is an address of the web hosting service storing the website’s files.

Without domain names, it will not be possible for people to find your website and without web hosting
you cannot build a website.

What are Blog posts?

These are basically contents you upload on your site to connect with your audience.

Create a website using the knowledge you learnt from the videos I dropped earlier

You are practicing without buying a domain or hosting plan. So it's all going to be free. This is for you if
you don't have money to buy a hosting plan for now.

The difference between this free plan and the paid plan is that in the free plan, you are given a
subdomain kind of website for example. "Thenameofyourwebsite.unaux.com" But if you click on the link
I gave earlier where you get free domain name and a paid hosting plan from GoDaddy, your website will
have no suffix or prefix but just "yoursitename.com" So to practice for free, you will use a site called
'profreehost.com'
Assignment
After watching all the above videos, you are to Design a website of any kind with the knowledge learnt
from the videos. For the sake of those who don't have money for hosting plan yet. We are using a site
called profreehost.com

Profreehost.com gives you the access to create a website with a free domain and a free hosting plan.

How to get your first web design job;

This is what I normally tell my students, first you need to build up your portfolio as web designer. It’s
hard for anyone to give you jobs without seeing your past web design jobs. So in order to overcome this
obstacle, I will teach you a simple trick.

Meet your friends and family. Especially those who are into business already, meet them and set out or
present a proposal to them, tell them you will help them build a website for their business for free. All
they have to do is pay for the domain and hosting.

Understand that you are doing this because you are building your portfolio so that you can have
something to show to them that this are you pass works. But if you have the money and you have a
business then you can use this knowledge and create a website for yourself. I hope you get my whole
point here.
