popular destination: nearly three-quarters

their main goal as they finished their PhDs,
which is in line with the aspirations of stu-
dents who responded to Nature’s 2017 gradu-
ate-student survey (see Nature 550, 549–552;
2017). Blanco, who studies non-Hodgkin lym-
phoma, says that she is highly satisfied with
her job, mainly because she is finds her topic

makes the science more exciting,” she says.
