On October 23, 2023, and November 6 until November 9, the days of our observation

began at Buhi North Central School. It was a cold, rainy day on the same day, but we were
enthusiastic for our deployment to the school. We got up early to make sure we had everything we
needed, and our call time is 6:40 a.m. We must come to the school as early as possible to meet with
the teachers. We initially reported to the principal's office for the orientation period, during which
every student teacher will be educated about the school activities that require our full cooperation
and duties. Sir Danilo R. Obiasca told us that punctuality is the most important practice in the field
of teaching. After our brief orientation, we proceed to the school's multipurpose building to attend
the flag ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The principal introduced us one by one after the ceremony. We took
our places on the stage so everyone could see that we were the student teachers who would be
observing their lessons. Following that, we returned to the school principal's office to assign each
of us a grade level to observe. He assigned grade level per individual of the selected section in
kindergarten, primary, and intermediate. At BNCS, there are 15 student teachers: 2 from BEEd-
4A, 9 from BEEd-4B, and 4 from BEEd-4C. In the primary level, Ms. Myrna L. Valenciano
volunteered to observe in Grade I—Mabini under the supervision of Ma'am Maria Charmella
Genevevie S. Zaballa, while Mr. Nicho T. Lozano was assigned in Grade I—Rizal under the
supervision of Ma'am Mabel Z. Camasis. Ms. Kyla Mae S. Zaballa was assigned in Grade 2—
Section Tulip—under the supervision of Ma'am Gina D. Repatacodo. Ms. Adelyn E. Oliva offered
to observe in Grade III—Diamond under the direction of Ma'am Sylva V. Sumalabe. In the
intermediate level, Ms. Mary Joy C. Iballar was assigned to Grade IV-Aquarius with the teacher,
Ma'am Cherill S. Britanico, and Ms. Rosalie Arcilla was assigned to Grade IV-Capricorn under the
supervision of Ma'am Mary Joy I. Lacoste; Ms. Jessa May B. Machado was assigned to Grade V-
Love under the supervision of Ma'am Emma C. Leal; and Ma'am Diana Rose L. Oafallas was
assigned to Grade V-Peace with her elementary teacher, Ma'am Jocelyn A. San Antonio. The
principal assigned the team leader, Ms. Leah B. Dautil, to Grade VI-St Mary, a star section, under
the supervision of Ma'am Auryl N. Salon. The different cooperating teachers introduced us to their
learners, and then we proceeded to inform them of our names and addresses as well.
Observing teaching and learning in the context of a school provides valuable insights into
the dynamic interaction between teachers and learners. Over the last 5 1/2 days, we had many
important experiences that will shape how we teach. We learned a lot, especially about different
teaching strategies, how to communicate well with learners using both words and actions that can
help learners improve their knowledge, and how to be a responsible and good role model to them.
The teacher's adept use of technology not only engaged learners but also facilitated a more
interactive and collaborative atmosphere. We observed how the teacher seamlessly integrated
varied instructional methods to address diverse learning styles within the classroom. Furthermore,
the emphasis on learner participation and peer collaboration stood out as key factors in fostering a
positive and inclusive learning community. Managing learner behavior and promoting literacy and
numeracy were big parts of what we saw during our time observing. We need to collaborate and
provide some strategies to promote trust and respect, which can help reduce our stress and also
create community relations within the school. Dealing with learners with disabilities,
understanding giftedness, and handling tough situations were part of the learning process. We also
saw the rich diversity among learners—different languages, cultures, economic backgrounds, and
religions. Understanding each learner's unique needs, strengths, weaknesses, interests, and
experiences became clear to us. Planning and managing teaching and learning, including designing
assessments and giving helpful feedback, were crucial parts of the teaching process.
However, this observation made us realize that, as teachers, passion, dedication, and love
for learners are crucial. Observing the classroom environment provides a more nuanced
understanding of the difficulties that teachers face when catering to individual learning styles. It
also emphasizes the importance of creating a positive and inclusive environment that encourages
active participation. Thus, such observations serve as a reminder of the critical role teachers play
in shaping the educational experience, as well as the ongoing need to adapt methods to meet
learners' changing needs. We are not just a teacher but also a second mother and a friend, helping
them strengthen their abilities and turn their weaknesses into strengths. Teachers should not stop
learning; instead, they should attend seminars, workshops, and training sessions to continue
professional growth and development, and it’s a key element in maintaining high-quality
education.
