Phone Contents - Descriptions
• 1 – Phone Handset: Used to answer calls
• 2 – Voicemail Pilot Light: Lights up if there is new voicemail
• 3 – Phone Display: Shows phone options or caller ID
• 4 – Model Number: Model number of phone
• 5 – Programmable Buttons: Can be tied to other extensions or used for speed dials
• 6 – Footstand Button: Adjusts the angle of the footstand on rear of phone
• 7 – Softkey Row: Flexible menu options that change based on current phone status
• 8 – Screen Wake-Up: If screen is powered off, press button to wake up display
• 9 – Number Keypad: Standard 10-key number pad with pound and star buttons
• q – Navigation/Confirm: Enables movement and selection of choices in menu
• w – Messages: Press to instantly dial Cisco Unity Voicemail to check messages
• e – Directories: Displays call logs and corporate directory
• r – Services: If phone is subscribed to services, they can be accessed here
• t – Settings: View settings of phone, change ringtone, and other options
• y – Help: Shows a help menu based on current screen
• u – Volume: Adjust call volume for current call or for ringer if not on call
• i – Headset: Press this button to use an external headset, bypassing the handset
• o – Mute: No audio will be transmitted through to the caller
• p – Speaker: Places audio through the speaker, allows for hands-free communication

Using Softkeys When Not in a Call
(On-Hook)
• Redial Softkey – Redials the last call placed
• New Call Softkey – Gives a dial tone through the speaker; can
pick up the handset to go off speaker
• CFwdAll Softkey – Forwards all calls to a different number
– Press CFwdAll, then dial the number to forward calls to
– The screen will display the number entered if Call Forwarding is
enabled, and flashing arrow will display next to the forwarded
extension
– To disable Call Forwarding: press the CFwdAll button again
– NOTE: Make sure to follow the same format as dialing a phone
number when attempting to Call Forward (5-digit campus, 10-digit
local)
Using Softkeys When in a Call
(Off-Hook)
• Hold Softkey – Places call on hold. The held call will flash and
a pause symbol will appear next to the extension with the
held call
• Resume Softkey – Resumes a held call
• Answer Softkey – Answers a second call while already in an
active call (a.k.a. Call Waiting)
– This places the first call on hold
– To navigate between multiple calls, use the navigation keys to highlight
a call then press the Resume key
Using Softkeys When in a Call
(Off-Hook)
• Transfer Softkey – Transfers a phone call to another number
• Transfer a call to another phone
– Press the Transfer softkey (places the call in Hold status)
– Dial the number to transfer the call to
– The transfer can be “announced” (informing the person receiving the
transfer of the call) before the transfer occurs
– Press the Transfer softkey to transfer the call or press the End Call Softkey
to cancel the transfer and resume the original call
• Transfer a call to voicemail
– Press the Transfer softkey
– Press the Messages button on the phone
– Press the Pound key (#)
– Dial the extension of the person’s voicemail
– Press Pound (#), then 2
– When voicemail answers, press the Transfer softkey to complete the call
Using Softkeys When in a Call
(Off-Hook)
• Park Softkey – Enables a call to be “parked” on a randomly-
assigned number and be picked up on any IP phone (must be
on a call in order to see the Park softkey)
• To use the Park feature
– While on a call, press the More softkey, then press the Park softkey
– The screen will display a prompt: “Call Park At _____.” The number will
display for a few seconds to give time to write it down
– Go to any IP phone, then dial the Park number to retrieve the call
• A parked call that is not retrieved within a few minutes will
ring back on the phone that parked the call
• Call Park numbers are randomly assigned between 31720 and
31725
Using Softkeys When in a Call:
Creating a MeetMe Conference
• MeetMe softkey – Can be used to have an internal conference
call with up to 10 total people (only works within ACC)
• To create a MeetMe Conference
– Pick up the handset
– Press the More softkey
– Press the MeetMe softkey (the phone will beep twice)
– Dial one of the MeetMe numbers (1800-1805). If you hear a fast busy
signal, hang up and try a different MeetMe number
– Once a number has been found, send the meeting number to all
joining parties (MeetMe Conferences are joinable by dialing the
MeetMe number)
Using Softkeys When in a Call:
Creating a Conference Call
• Conference softkey – Creates a conference call for up to 6 people
• To create a Conference Call
– Press the More softkey
– Press the Confrn softkey (places the original call on Hold)
– Dial the number or extension of the person to add to the conference
• Once the person answers, press the Confrn softkey
• “To Conference” will display on the screen
– Repeat the steps to add more people
• Only the initiator of the Conference Call can invite people
• If one person is still in the Conference Call, the call will remain
connected
• To view the names and/or phone numbers of the Conference Call
attendees, press the More softkey, then press the ConfLi softkey
Using the Feature Buttons:
Messages
• Initial Setup – Contact the Help Desk to get an account created
– Default password: 159357
• Setting up Voicemail
– Press the Messages button (or dial 3-1790 on campus or 223-1790 off campus)
– Enter the password, then press Pound (#)
– Follow the prompts to record a spoken name and greeting
• Access voicemail from a different phone on campus
– Press Messages, then press Star (*)
– Enter the 5-digit extension to check, then press Pound (#)
– Enter the password, then press Pound (#)
• Access voicemail from off campus
– Dial 223-1790
– Press Star (*), then enter the 5-digit extension, then press Pound (#)
– Enter the password, then press Pound (#)
• NOTE: Your User ID is your 5-digit extension. Your PIN is your voicemail
password.

Directories
• Menu Options
– 1) Missed Calls – Shows log of all incoming, unanswered calls
– 2) Received Calls – Shows log of all incoming, answered calls
– 3) Placed Calls – Shows log of all outgoing calls
– 4) Personal Directory – Customized address book and fast dials
– 5) Corporate Directory – Listing of all users with an extension
• When a call is highlighted, press the More softkey, then
Details softkey to see more details about the call
• To access the Personal Directory, contact the Help Desk to
request your UserID and PIN

• Placing a call from a call record
– Highlight the call using the navigation keys
– Pick up the handset (or press the headset or speaker keys) to
automatically dial the highlighted number
– For off campus numbers:
• Highlight the call using the navigation keys
• Press the EditDial softkey
• Place a 9 in the beginning of the number (making sure that 512 is added for local
numbers)
• Use the >> softkey to move to the end of the number, then press Dial or pick up the
handset to dial the edited number

• Using the Corporate Directory
– Use the navigation keys to select a search field
• First Name:

– Enter names by using the 10-key dialing (ex. press the 5-key two times
to enter a ‘k’)
– Highlight the search result with the navigation keys and press the Dial
softkey or pick up the handset to dial the number

– Use the navigation keys to select a ring type
– Press the Play softkey to preview a sound, OK softkey to save, or Cancel to
return to the previous screen
