Determine Quantity of Installed Memory


Search box, type cmd, and press enter. Type command Systeminfo and hit enter key.

a) How much is the total physical in your system?

b) How much virtual memory does your system have ?

In the Windows search box type Control Panel. In the Control panel window select
system and security, and from there system. How much memory does the system report
and what is the system type ?

In the Windows search box type Task Manager. If you see a window with a button ‘more
details’, click on it.When you see a window similar to the figure below, click on Memory
a) How much memory is installed in your system?

b) Is it DDR2, DDR3, or DDR4?

c) How many slots are you using?

d) Attach a screen shot in the space below.

The steps below will show you how to remove and reinstall memory modules. If you are
using a desktop/tower, you may remove/reinstall the modules, if not justmake sure you
know how to do it

- Point on Memory Search. What options are displayed under “Search By”?

system.
a) Who is the manufacturer of the motherboard?

b) Which motherboard model is used?

4. Use this information and have the site perform a memory search for this motherboard
and answer the following questions:
a) What types of memory modules can this board use?

b) What sizes of individual modules can you select?

c) What speed options do you have?


d) Are the modules buffered or un-buffered?

e) Do the modules use ECC?
