Function Specifications
Lineup
The SAMCO-vm05 Series comes in two types of rated specifications, H characteristic and P
characteristic, that can be selected according to the application, be it general-purpose industrial use or
use for fans, pumps, etc. *Only for 200V class, below SBT-22k/30k.
Specifications
Function
Selection of the ratings is enabled by using the ratings selection function (cd060).
• H characteristic (cd060=1)
Rated specification of 150%/min. load capacity. Suitable for constant torque loads in general-purpose industrial
applications.
Operation
• P characteristic (cd060=2)
Panel
Rated specification of 120%/min. load capacity. Suitable for reduced torque loads such as in fans, and pumps. P
characteristic applicable motors provides the rated current that can drive motors with a capacity one rank higher
than H characteristic applicable motors.

Operation
•Winding speed prediction pattern operation is the basic algorithm.

Multiple pump drive control (constant pressure feedwater system control)
By providing an SWS board (option), a constant pressure feedwater system that uses multiple pumps,
such as feedwater pump pressure control and multiple pump rotation operation and parallel operation,
can easily be configured. A periodic switching function designed to extend pump life and a pump
selection function for which maintenance ease has been dramatically improved with a control terminal are
also provided.
• Up to 4 pumps can be controlled according to the water supply status with just one inverter.
• Selection of pump operation switching according to the pressure fluctuations status or at
periodic intervals is possible.
• Settings and status display in pressure units are possible.

Usage Cautions
Inverter capacity If driving multiple motors in series with one inverter, select the inverter capacity so that 1.1 times the
selection motors' rated current is less than the inverter's rated output current. Moreover, if a large starting
torque is required, select an inverter capacity one rank higher.
Applying power to the U, V, and W output terminals of the inverter will damage the inverter block.
Wiring
Prior to applying power, carefully check that there are no wiring errors.
Install the inverter in a well-ventilated indoor location away from direct sunlight, avoiding locations that have
Installation location
high temperature, humidity, or where condensation can easily occur, as well as locations with fly, dust, corrosive
and operating
gases, grinding fluid mist or a salty atmosphere. When housing an inverter into controller, establish a cooling
environment
method and controller dimensions such that the inverter's ambient temperature remains within the allowable
range. If the inverter's ambient temperature exceeds +30°C or +40°C , the ventilation cover must be removed.
Also, the surface of the inverter and the dynamic braking resistors reach high temperatures due to the operating
conditions, so mount them on incombustible materials.
Maintenance and Even if the inverter's power supply is shut off, the internal capacitors take time to discharge, so
inspections perform maintenance and inspections only after the charge lamp has gone out. Since residual
voltage remains in the capacitors, they present a risk of electrocution.
Control circuit To perform remote control operation, keep the wiring distance with the inverter within 20 m, and use
wiring distance twisted-pair shielded wire for wiring. Also, to prevent inductance from peripheral devices, perform
wiring away from heavy-current circuits (main circuit and relay sequence circuit).
Wiring length between If the wiring length until the motor is long, the inverter overheats due to the high-frequency current that flows as
inverter and motor stray capacitance between the wires on each layer, and overcurrent trip may occur. Set the carrier frequency to
50m if Cd051 = 130 or less, 100m if Cd051 = 090 or less, and 200m if Cd051 = 040 or less.
If the wiring distance between the inverter and motor is long (particularly during low-frequency output), the motor
Wire size
torque declines due to the declining cable voltage, so perform wiring with sufficiently thick wire.
Installation of circuit Install a wiring circuit breaker (MCCB) for wiring protection on the inverter's input side.
breakers for wiring Use a harmonic-resistant leak breaker.
Application of input Do not perform high-frequency opening/closing (more than once per hour) using the input-side
side electromagnetic electromagnetic contactor (MC), as this may damage the inverter. If high-frequency
contactor starting/stopping is required, do so through control terminal signal input.
As a rule, provide an electromagnetic contactor between the inverter and motor, and do not perform
Application of output
ON/OFF switching during operation. If an electromagnetic contactor has been provided on the
side electromagnetic
inverter output side for switching to a commercial power supply, etc., use it when the inverter and
contactor
motor are stopped.
Since power factor improvement capacitors on the inverter input side are not effective, do not install
Elimination of phase
them. Perform converter power factor improvement with an AC reactor or a DC reactor. Also, do not
advance capacitor to
insert power factor improvement capacitors on the inverter's output side, as this would cause
improve power factor
overcurrent trips and prevent operation.
Installation of thermal The inverter has an electrothermal protection function, but when driving multiple motors with one
relay inverter, install a thermal relay for each motor.
The inverter's main circuit I/O includes harmonic components that may cause damage to
Radio disturbance
communication equipment, radios, and sensors used near the inverter. Such damage can be
(high-frequency noise)
minimized by installing a noise filter. Using metal pipes for wiring between the inverter and motor and
countermeasures
on the power supply side, and grounding these metal pipes, is also effective.
