Critical Analysis of “Romeo and Juliet”

This tragic story is well-written by William Shakespeare in his early career. It

mainly focused on the two young lovers who’s love was hindered by the longstanding
feud of their families. As I’d read the story, I was amazed on how it was creatively
structured, the plot was incredibly organized. However, it evoked a dark feelings
towards me as the story goes in contrary to as what I’d expected on how a love story
will went, apparently my fairy tale expectation was failed as it ends of parting ways to
each other.
The story touches the real scenarios that I’ve found in the real world. It
highlights the feud of between two families that greatly affect the feelings of affection
felt by the lower subordinates or the member of the two small group. The story
portray of having an authoritarian parents, so their child would find ways to loosen
the tie that they gave to their children. In the story, Juliet and Romeo knows that they
cannot successfully pursue their love because of their family conflict. In this case, I
can see that Romeo and Juliet find their ways to prove that no one can hinder them
that’s why they decided to do their vows secretly. They overcome this phase through
the help of Friar Laurence. Yet, they were test with another challenge to conquer and
this is when Romeo was exile to Mantua. It makes the two of them remains
uncomfortable to be apart from each other and lead them not to stop trying. This
attitude of the character creates a “necessary need for them to be together” and that's
what creates problems. The story also highlight the danger of loving too much.
Especially, when the fake death of Juliet occur and Romeo impulsively decided to end
his life too because he wanted to be with the love of his life forever.
Even if the story begins with not so good happenings, but I was overwhelmed
of the possibilities it gave to the readers as it leaves an ending that could somehow
awaken other people who can relate to the conflict that happened or can probably
relate to the story itself. In addition, with all the happenings, the story might not end
happily but it resolved the conflict of the feuding families. The story leaves us a moral
lesson to let the old family wounds go, and do not let your emotions rule your life as
this will lead you to more complex situations. All in all, the story gives me a feeling
of sadness especially when the two main character trying their best to prove the love
that they have to each other but due to the threat and challenges they had met along
the way, it just ended up in bidding a real farewell to each other and luckily reconcile
the bond of their families.
Critical analysis of “Beowulf”

In the first place, I was looking for the author of this piece, surprisingly it was
written by the unknown author incredibly. The epic tells the life of the hero, Beowulf
and his battle against the monster , Grendel and with the dragon. It includes plots that
has conflict with the monsters which lead the readers to cannot bring themselves and
compare their attitudes or to be in the real story. The reason is that, the piece itself
contain a mythic elements in the plot and its character. The main character shows his
heroic attitude in which he confidently fight with the monster and the dragon. The
conflicts began when Grendel has something abnormal to his body which is his ear.
His eardrum was located outside that caused him to heavily disrupted with the jubilant
noises in his surroundings. Aside from that, he is extremely jealous with the Danes
because he was isolated in the community where he belonged to because of his
abnormality. These urges him to start the conflict through killing and attacking the
Danes. Then, Beowulf was triggered with this and inspired to accept the challenge
which is to defeat Grendel. However, after that, Beowulf faced the again another
battle with the unknown dragon. By this time, Beowulf was killed and his loss leaves
his subordinates or fellow Danes to remain in fear to be attacked again by the
enemies.
Despite of the bloody happenings in the story, it proved my perspective that a
leaders or a king must do their innermost and best capabilities to protect their
members. Also, it leaves the reader and illustrates an important moral lessons which
are bravery, loyalty, and honor.
Lastly, in the story of Beowulf, to some readers it will leave their
understanding a quite hanging because there is no clear introduction of the characters.
Some of the parents of the main character where remained unknown or not vividly
stated in the story and the blood connections between the character was not
mentioned. On the other side, it really challenged the reader to dig deeper in the story
to understand the connections between characters, and this kind of technique is good
to train one’s mind.
