14. A 30m X I5m hall is to be illuminated so that the height of the lamp fittings from floor is 3m, and the lamp fittings are
fitted to the ceiling and arranged in rows and columns. Assuming the space-to-Height ratio of unity. Find the number of
lamps to be required for even distribution of lamps, and draw the layout plan. If lamps used are of lumen output 2700
lumens, calculate the illumination (lux) on the floor. Assume utilization factor is 0.6 and depreciation factor is 0.8.
17. What are the different factors affecting earth resistivity ? What are the different earthing methods? Describe Pipe
earthing method in brief.(2+2+3)
18. Draw the schematic and wiring diagram for long corridor or godown which should meet the following Requirements:
When a person enters the corridor from one end, he can put on first light L1 from first switch S1. When he reaches
switchboard No. 2 he can switch off the first light and simultaneously put ‘on’ the second light by operating S2. When he
reaches near switch S3 and operates it, he can put off L2 and simultaneously put on L3. Similarly, when he reaches near S5
and operates it, the last lamp L4 also goes off. The whole process can be repeated in the reverse manner. Any number of
persons can enter the corridor at any end and carry out the above operation by operating the switches in sequence. The
circuit will not work if the sequence of operation of switches is not followed. (2+5)
19. A single room of size (5x4) sq.m is required to be provided with one lamp, one fan, one fluorescent tube and one 5
Amp socket outlet. Each of the points is controlled by its individual switch. Mark the location of the electrical points
suitably and draw the installation plan. Also draw the wiring diagram. Calculate the total length of wire and other
material and prepare complete list of material required for wiring the room in concealed PVC conduit system of wiring.
No main switch is to be provided as the entry of the sub circuits from the adjoining room. (4+3+2)

given picture. Calculate the total Length of the wire.
24. Draw a circuit where a lamp is controlled from three various position with SPST switch.
25. Design a Go-down wiring circuit showing four lamps. Draw multiline and single line diagram also.
26. Figure shows the plan of a small flat. The flat is to be provided with electric connections. The position of light and fan
points and switch boards have also been shown in Figure. Then (i) decide the number of sub-circuit and show these in
the Installation plan, (ii) calculate the size and length of wire required for the wiring installation.

switches ‘Lighting’ (f) Main fuse board with switches ‘Power' (g) L lamp (2 × 8)
29. A low roof single storey house is to be provided with single phase service connection at 230 V 50 Hz supply having a
load of 5 kW (lights fans socket). The supply is to be given from an existing nearby distribution pole 20 m away from the
building. Prepare a list of material and the approximate cost for giving service connection. A G.l. pipe is to be raised
along the wall above the roof to receive bare conductors on its cross-arm fitted with shackle insulators. Also draw sketch
of service connection. (10)
