Question No.1 [2, 3, 4, 5]
1.1 State Dot rule of coupled circuits.

1.2 Draw the T and π equivalent circuits of a coupled circuit and

write the effective inductance of each branch elements.

1.3 Derive the expression of energy developed in the coupled circuit

if both currents are entering dot points.

1.4 For an ideal transformer circuit shown in figure (01), calculate the
power supplied to the 10Ω resistor.

Question No.2 [3, 2, 4, 5]

2.1 Define singularity functions or test signals? How are they related to
the dynamic behaviour of the actual physical system? Illustrate the
mathematical relationship between the various standard test signals.

2.2 Define time constant of transient circuit? Prove the unit of time
constant RC or L/R is seconds.

2.3 A coil having an inductance of 6 H and resistance of R Ω is

connected in series with a resistor of 10Ω to a 120V. The time
constant of the circuit is 300 msec. when steady-state conditions
have been reached, the supply is replaced instantaneously by a short

circuit. Determine;
a) the unknown resistance R of the coil
b) the current flowing in the circuit after 1 sec of the short circuit.
c) time taken for the current to fall to 10 % of its initial value.

2.4 In the circuit shown in figure (02), find the total transient current i(t)
when the switch is closed at t=0.
