Executing the Plan

2. evaluates the good concept of leadership
3. create a plan for an organization.

Good morning everyone, my name is Geraldine Ending but, you can call me miss Ge.
Before you take your seats can you please pick up the pieces of paper under your seats and put it
in the trash Bin.

B. Motivation
To start our topic, let's play a game called “ Act and Guess”. I want one representative here in front to
act the words. I will give you a word then afterwards the person Infront will act it and his classmates will guess
the correct word.

What is Execution?

Execution is carrying out of a plan, order or course of action. It is not simply tactics but a system of getting
things done through questioning, analysis and follow through. It was also described as the discipline of meshing
strategy and reality.
Execution as a competency is the manner, style or result of performance.
7 Essential Behavior of leaders according to Bossidy and Charon

Planning and execution quadrant
1. The non-planning and execution leader. No action therefore no expected results.
2. The executioner. Implement but actions are not back up by planning.
3. The planner. Plans but not see through the implementation of whatever was started.
4. The planner and executioner. Ideally every leader wants to be in this quadrant. Planning and execution
are Siamese twins, they always go together. A leader who is good in both planning ang executing.
Execution as Link to other Management functions of organizing, staffing and leading.
Planning sets the stage for execution.
Organizing is a management function that determines the structures and allocations of jobs. Execution will not
be possible without establishing the necessary organization structures, where roles and responsibilities of
employees are specified.
Staffing is the manning of jobs. It ensures that the right people are placed in the critical jobs.
Leading refers to guidance or leadership. Organizations should have a good leader to make the plan works.
Communication and Motivation
Communication can be either top down, bottom-up or horizontal. A good communication promotes
understanding, cooperations, harmony and teamworks in a workplace.
Motivation is inspiring others to act in a desired manner. Since employees are expected to be committed and
are able to contribute, motivational approaches by leaders should not be taken for granted.

Theory X
1. The average human being has an inherently dislike of work and will avoid it if possible.
2. Because of these human characteristics of work, most people will be controlled, directed and
threatened with punishments to make them put fort and effort.
3. The average human being prefers to be directed wishes to be with responsibility, has relatively little
ambitions and wants security above all.
Theory Y
1. The expedition of physical and mental in work is a natural as planning the rest.
2. People will exercise self – direction and self-control in the service of objectives to which they are committed.
3. Commitment to objectives is a function of the rewards associated with achievement.

3. Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of needs
An individual needs from the staircase. At any stage of his or her age an individual has specific needs. The
needs progress until he/she is able to reach the highest needs. It is important for a manager to determine the
needs of the employees at a certain point in his/her career so that the employees will be motivated. Once the
need is satisfied, it ceases as a motivator.

You and your 5 high school classmates were recently reprimanded by your teacher because you were
talking while she was giving her lecture. In her anger, she vented her frustration with the 6 of you by
calling you names. This frustration reaches the principal's office. You and your classmates were called
to have a conference with the principal and your teacher. What do you expect to happen in this
conference in terms of creating a win-win situation for both the 6 of you and your teacher? What sort of
leadership style do you want a principal to manifest during the conference, so that things will work out?
