The main focus of Social Construction of Technology, or SCOT Theory, is how technology is shaped by
human behavior, in my opinion. It implies that it is dependent upon individuals and the diverse ways in which
they utilize technology. For example, the book is used for reading and education, but it may potentially be
utilized for other purposes in the future. It demonstrates unequivocally that technology does not shape us as
humans and our actions; rather, we as humans shape technology. Conversely, Social Shaping Technology, or
SST Theory, discusses how values change and lead to different results. As an illustration, the cell phone has
developed throughout time to facilitate various aspects of our lives, such as viewing films on the internet,
responding to emails, finding information, etc. However, it has limits for users who are unfamiliar with this
type of technology. It just implies that as we switch to new technologies it creates a different impact on the
people in society. In summary, SST theory focuses on changing values that lead to technological change,
whereas SCOT theory describes how human activities shape technology.
2. List down the social media sites you use. What do you use it for? How does it affect your
lives daily?
• Facebok
• Facebook messenger
• Youtube
• Tiktok
Initially, I use Facebook to exchange memories and stay informed about what's going on around me. I also
use it to upload photos and videos to foster community and share special moments. Second, Facebook
Messenger is really important to me since it makes it easier for me to interact and communicate with my
distant friends, family, and relatives. Third, I search YouTube for tutorials to help me with things that I'm not
sure how to use or complete. Finally, I use my TikTok to see some web videos to pass the time when I'm
bored. I used this for a variety of objectives across numerous social media platforms. for my alertness,
inquisitiveness, learning, correspondence, etc. Using these kinds of social media sites has had a huge impact
on my daily life. It has a lot of effects; it may be good or bad.
3. Technological change is done in multiple stages. Explain how computers have evolved through the
stages of technological change.
The computer was created by Charles Babbage in the early 1820s. After how many years, by the year
1942, the first innovation was performed by John Atanasoff and Clifford Berry. It included a new binary
system of arithmetic, parallel processing, regenerative memory, and the separation of memory and computing
functions. The information about innovation was later disseminated for people to easily adopt the innovation
of the computer.
