Please go through the CAT 2022 Registration guide and video uploaded on www.iimcat.ac.in
very carefully. This advisory should be read in conjunction with the Registration Guide.
Do note that there is no benefit in applying for CAT very early as the Test Centre/Slot will be
assigned to each candidate only after the registration closes. The IIMs will try their best to
assign you to your first City preference. Last date to register is 14th Sep, however, you are
advised to complete the CAT application within the first two weeks to avoid any last minute
mishaps.
Personal Details
1. You are advised to use a formal email id for the purpose of applying for CAT; please avoid
frivolous sounding ids.Make sure that you retain the email address and mobile number until
the CAT Admission process is completed. All communication by CAT authorities will be
done using this email address and mobile number only.
2. If you are a category student (EWS/SC/ST/NC-OBC), you may have to mandatorily input
Serial/Entry Number of the Caste, Certificate Issue Date as well as Caste/Tribe Name
depending on your category.For details of the Caste/Tribe name applicable to you, see the
National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) website:

National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) website.
If you are a category student or a person with disability (PWD) or differently abled (DA)you
will have to self-attest and upload the relevant certificate as PDF document (max size
300KB). The format of the certificate can be downloaded from the CAT website.However, if
your current certificate is similar to the format mentioned in the CAT website, then you can
take a photocopy of it, self-attest, scan and upload as PDF.
In case you are unable to procure the Category certificate ((EWS/ NC-OBC/ SC/ST/PwD) in
the required format at this point, then you will have to provide a self-attested Undertaking
(available on iimcat.ac.in). You can upload the Undertaking along with old Category
certificate and complete your CAT application. However, you will have to produce the
required certificate at the time of the Personal Interview, if shortlisted for further selection
process.
3. If you have taken Covid vaccine, provide the dates of first and second vaccination.
4. The passport size photo (max size 1MB; only JPEG or JPG) should not be more than 6
months old and should have a white background. You will require the same photograph
uploaded here, to be affixed on the admit card on the day of the test (27thNovember 2022).
Also, keep sufficient copies of the uploaded photograph for producing at the time of
interview.Also, upload the scanned image of your signature within the dimensions of 80mm
X 35mm. Acceptable format is .jpg or .jpeg and the file size should not be more than 80KB.
5. Provide your name in the CAT application exactly as it is mentioned in the Identity card
(Aadhar, Passport etc) that you will be carrying to the exam. Your Class X certificate must
also contain the exact name. If there is any discrepancy in your name in Class X certificate,
then you may have to provide a notarized Identification affidavit (available on CAT website),
if shortlisted for further selection process
Academics
6. For Class X and XII, enter the maximum and obtained marks for all the subjects mentioned
in the marksheetirrespective of the Boards regulation, round off aggregate percentage to two
decimal places. Please do NOT enter best of 4/5, irrespective of your board. Students of
ICSE/ISC in Class X/XII should choose Council for Indian School Certificate Examination as
the Board. Give May as the month of completion.
7. If you have completed your graduation, compute the percentage of marks as per the norms
of the University / Board (Example: Only Honours subjects to be considered for B.Com.
Students). However, if you are in the final year of graduation, compute the percentage of
marks based on all the subjects for all the years / semesters for which results are available.In
case of grades/CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the
procedure as certified by your Board/University.If both marks and CGPA is provided in the
marksheet, it is better to consider the marks.
8. If your marks obtained till date is below 50%, you can fill the CAT form by filling your
marks as 50%. Hopefully, the results declared later will take your aggregate percentage above
50%.
9. Engineering students can fill B.Tech or B.E (whichever is relevant) in Degree Name and
Engineering/Technology in Discipline. B.Com students should fill BCOMin Degree Name
and Commerce in Discipline. BBA students can fill BBA/BBM/BBS/BMS as applicablein
Degree Name and Management in Discipline. Others can fill BA or BSC or any other degree
as applicable and the associated discipline. In case you don’t find your discipline in the
dropdown, select Others.
11. Professional course (CA / CS / ICWA) can be filled only if IPCC is cleared.If you are a
Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India (FIAI), do fill in your marks (only if you
havepassed the final exam).
Work Experience
12. If you have work experience, you need to enter your experience as on July 31, 2022.You
have to mention start date and end date along with the break in work-ex, if any. Break will
have to be entered only if you have not worked for a particular period between your start date
and end date. Only full-time experience after graduation will be considered. Part-time /
Project / Internship / Articleship / Pre-graduation work experience should not be entered and
will not be counted as work experience.
Programmes
13. Choice of Programmes - You must choose the flagship programme of all the 20 IIMs
(MBA for IIM Amritsar, Calcutta, Jammu, Kashipur, Nagpur,Sambalpur, Sirmaur& Udaipur;
PGPM for IIM Trichy and PGP for all other 11 IIMs).
We would advise you to choose all the available programmes in which you are eligible to
apply. In addition to the 20 flagship programs, we encourage you to apply to the 14
specialized programs offered by the various IIMs as tabulated below.
You can choose multiple programmes of the same IIM and usually no extra fee is required for
the same.
14. You will need to select two interview city preferences for most programmes. You can
select Kolkata as first preference.
Test City
15. You must select six different cities as your choices for taking the exam. In all probability
you will get your first preference only. You may choose Kolkata, Hooghly, Kalyani,
Burdwan, Durgapur and Asansol as the six preferencesin that order if you would be taking
the test from Kolkata. However, if you intend taking the test from any other location, you
could choose accordingly from the drop down list.
Payment
16. You have to make online payment of Rs.2300 (Rs.1150 for SC/ST). BEFORE MAKING
THE PAYMENT, PLEASE REVIEW THE COMPLETED APPLICATION VERY
CAREFULLY. Once the payment is made, you will not be allowed to make any changes.
