QUOTE 1: TEMPLE ROOF
Issues found on Temple Roof
* All original water blocker is cracking if not already peeled away causing leaks. This is because the
original water blocker had not been fibreglassed. If fibreglass isn’t used when water blocking it simply
allows the blocker to crack and peel in a short time, due to heat, UV, and wear her r conditions.
* All original silicone seems to be many years old. Silicone will NEVER stand the test of time. It is only ever
a simply fix, and shouldn’t be used on sections of iron roofs.
* Only small section of new box gutter needs attention.
* The entire old box gutter needs to be pressure cleaned and inspected as it has a number of small leaks.
* 6 WHIRLY BIRDS in total are not working
* Only a small amount of screws need replacing. Rubber washers on roof screws have deteriorated
allowing water in.
What needs to be done in order to prevent any further leaking on temple roof.
Thus providing 10 years warranty on all work done on Temple Roof.
* Remove ALL existing FLASH TAPE (as it is all deteriorated) and replace with water blocker.
* With fibre glass and water blocker, re-seal any sections of Ridge-Line that are allowing water to return
* Pressure clean all sections of old silicone and ALL sections of original water blocker so that water
blocker can bond to roof without chance of not bonding.
* Remove ALL sections of any LOOSE silicone over roof.
* Apply coat of water block roof membrane to these sections then apply first coat of fibre glass matting.
* Allowing to dry, then go back over ALL sections with 2nd coat of water blocker and then apply 2nd layer
of fibre glass matting.
* Apply 3rd coat of water block roof membrane to all sections. Thus preventing ANY chance of leaking in
the future.
* Iron sheets need to be knotched downwards along entire Gutter-line, to stop the aqua-capillary-action
from bringing water back into the roof cavity.
* Pressure clean the entire OLD box gutter and check for additional leaks under the muck.
EST#EST1 2 of 3
* Blow dry entire old box gutter, once completely dry apply water blocker and fibre glass matting to
prevent further leaking in future.
* Re-screw sections of upper box gutter that need attention
* Water block upper sections of old box gutter
* 6 out of 10 whirly birds are not spinning, these to be replaced with new. (As birds that do not spin simply
allow water access into the roof by the wind when raining)
* All skylights to be cleaned and lose silicone or blocker to be removed
* Apply new water blocker and fibre glass around skylights.
* One upper section of NEW box gutter to be fastened correctly with screws, then fibreglassed correctly.
* Replace any rusted or warn roofing screws on entire roof. Estimated only a few hundred need replacing.
(NOT the entire 5000+ screws need attention)
* All saddles that are installed to hold down any hoses need to be replaced and water-blocked.
* It is advised that all solar panels be Cleaned correctly as the build up of dirt and dust on them will most
definitely be preventing them from performing at %100 This (However this option is OPTIONAL and will
not have any impact on the roof leaking nor will it affect any warranty given on the roof repairs.
Scope of work:
Approx 2-3 days of work needed to complete all the above work need in order to water tight the temple
roof.
