Sub: Anna University, Chennai Conduct of I Semester Examination for the UG and PG students admitted during the academic year 2011-2012 Certain details called for Reg. Ref: 1. Commissioner of Technical Education Lr.No.35455/ECA-1/2011-12 dated 24.8.2011 and Lr.No.35455/ECA-1/2011-12 dated 30.8.2011. 2. Commissioner of Technical Education Lr.No.35455/ECA-1/2011-12 dated 31.10.2011. ********** With reference to the letter cited above under reference (1), the Commissioner of Technical Education has informed the Vice-Chancellors of Anna Universities of Technology at Chennai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli and Madurai to follow the Regulation, Curricula and Syllabi of Anna University, Chennai for the students admitted to First Year UG and PG Degree Programmes during the year 2011-2012. Further, in the letter under reference cited (2)(copy enclosed), the Commissioner of Technical Education has requested the Registrar, Anna University, Chennai to conduct the First Semester Examination for the UG and PG students admitted in the academic year 2011-2012 and to take all necessary preparatory arrangements for conduct of the First Semester Examination for the said students. Therefore, I am by direction to inform the following:1. Practical examination for UG and PG are scheduled to commence from 2.1.2012 and 9.1.2012 respectively. 2. Theory examination for UG and PG are scheduled to commence from 19.1.2012. 3. Detailed schedule in respect of 1 and 2 will be intimated in due course. 4. The question paper will have the following pattern (except for B.Arch.& First Semester B.E/B.Tech. Engineering Graphics) Part-A 10 Questions each carrying 2 Marks - 2 x 10 = 20 Marks Part-B 5 Questions (either or type) each carrying 16 marks 16 x 5 = 80 marks

For Question paper pattern for B.Arch. please refer regulations concerned. For Question Paper pattern for First Semester B.E/B.Tech. Engineering Graphics 5 Questions of either or type each carrying 20 Marks. For Technical English-I for First Semester B.E/B.Tech., 11th Question is compulsory. The other questions from 12th to 15th are either or type. Other details about total mark, internal marks, etc. are available in the Regulations, Curricula and Syllabi.

5. Submission of students Bio-data cum Application for the examination, last date for payment of examination fees, etc. will be intimated later. 6. In this connection, I am to inform you that as per Regulation, Curricula and Syllabi of Anna University, Chennai, the students admitted in First Semester M.E/M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Sc (Full-time/Part-time) have to choose their elective subjects from the list of electives given in the Curriculam of Anna University, Chennai. Therefore, you are requested to furnish the specialization/branchwise list of Elective subjects offered to the students of First Semester M.E/M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Sc. Degree Programmes in the enclosed Proforma on or before 14.11.2011. A Nil report may be furnished in the Proforma if no PG Programme is offered or PG Programme with no elective subjects in the I semester is offered by the College. If your College is an Autonomous College, please mention the same in the enclosed Proforma and no Elective particulars need be given. However, a copy of the communication granting autonomous status to your institution by the respective Anna University of Technology may be enclosed. I request you to take personal attention in this matter and see that the details are sent before the last date prescribed. This may be treated as URGENT. Yours faithfully,
